Well, it's like when people say "there was nothing on last night, I had to watch stuff from the Sky+" - that's why you've got a Sky+, surely? It baffles me how people can watch telly all night anyway, if there's one or two shows a night I want to watch that's enough. Then the telly goes off.

Well, you could argue that Masterchef is "filler" I suppose in that it fills a lot of odd slots and lasts many hours but that doesn't mean they don't expand the same amount of time and energy making it as they would a drama or sitcom. Meet The Izzards was clearly a prestige production given all the overseas filming. They didn't commission it just to have it as slack. We can't have dramas seven days a week.

It won't be. What presumably will happen will be like what the Beeb do when they have those special England-wide programmes, like the ones they did recently about the bad weather, which all had a local presenter and most of it was locally-produced, but they all included the same report about the bad weather nationally.
