Piers Morgan airs on Friday nights at the moment and All Star Family Fortunes took up a Sunday slot; I'm A Celebrity... is daily and only fills in about Saturday's a year. Take Me Out fluctuates like You've Been Framed and The Cube - it does ok if it doesn't have much in way of competition. Ross is being held onto because of demos rather than raw figures.

It looks like football is becoming the Tuesday night saviour on ITV for the next three weeks and also the Europa League could go high if Chelsea win their first leg. Obviously no English teams in the ECL won't mean mega ratings, but anything involving the two Spanish teams should draw in 4 million and then there's the big English game next week.
Remember it wasn't that long ago ITV was relying on The Biggest Loser and other 2 million duds on Tuesday and look what's happening now.

Talking of Tuesday night; it must be a long time since a non-football Tuesday schedule beat a normal Wednesday schedule between 8pm-10pm and Thursday 9pm-10pm - yet it happened last week.

When was it ever massive? It was only meant for teatime/primetime.

Lol. I thought the same as you did! I don't ever think Secret Service was created to be "massive". It was created to become a successful early evening filler in the same way as Total Wipeout was. But sadly it was ill conceived and poorly delivered. Therefore an inadvertent failure. Hopefully it will cause BBC commissioners to actually look more closely at what they are commissioning.

I still think non football Tuesdays are low key, but the return of CS to Wednesdays has massively improved ITV's fortunes on what were non fitba nights.

I don't see why they couldn't have continued with Total Wipeout.

Ant and Dec currently number 3 on iTunes music charts after their performance of Let's get ready to rhumble on snt yesterday. It means they're going to get loads of promotion on radio this week with radio stations playing their song and there will be campaigns to get them to number 1. Basically indirectly its free promotion for next weeks episode of Snt, the last thing the voice could do with right now. BBC needs people on radio to talk about the voice's return over next 7 days to promote it, not ant and Dec. I'm getting a bit worried for the voice now

Ant and Dec will make life tough for The Voice, but it had many problems to begin with anyway.

It'll be fine. I'm very confident Saturday Night Takeaway will see a dip of more than 1m viewers and The Voice will win the slot. Remember, Saturday Night Takeaway will have a dented You've Been Framed lead in while The Voice will have Doctor Who, a programme which will draw in near 6m, if not more, into the channel from the off.

No brainer really - Barcelona are a bigger draw than Bayern and Juventus combined while PSG now have the Beckham factor. Even if he isn't in the team you can guarantee most the talk about PSG will be about brand Beckham.

The thing with the doctor who lead in is that many of their viewers dont watch it live. Say it gets 6million viewers overnight rating, about only 4million of them are probably live and the other 2million for the rest of the evening. So that kind of lead in wont help much, if at all.

Whoever at Itv decided to get Ant and Dec to perform their song in the week just leading up to the Voice's return is a bloody genius [from their pov]. Hopefully BBC Radio blacklists the song from their playlists to reduce the damage but commercial radio are already embracing it and A&D have been interviewed on radio this evening, all good promotion for their program. And the whole irony of Ant and Dec getting a top #5 single in the week which the Voice launches, a show which couldnt get any contestant from series one to get a top #5 recod, will be something which will be brought up in conversation by the critics or media over the next week. It's all rather unfortunate for the Voice which is also launching on Easter weekend, when many families are away on holiday.

I agree. The voice has a support network around it on Saturday. I suspect Doctor who will deliver 6m to the voices doorstep. So I really easily see it starting the night with high six low 7 and building throughout the night peaking at the end of SNT. People may tune in during SNT breaks or bit's there less interested in.

People seem to be thinking yesterdays SNT was the game changer. I think we are in the same place. In the coming week we will learn allot. They need to push The voice hard over all platforms and they also need to do the same with DW. The bigger the lead in on saturated the better. Theirs a hell of allot of captive floating audience out there to be won.

I think SNT will get 5.5-6.3. It has a loyal audience but it also has some floating viewers (like Me) that will want to try the voice. One thing is for certain SNT is no filler show. it will hold up well and is good competition. It's also doing well. But the voice should still be able to win.

Cant wait. I think we will know much more after we have watched both shows on Saturday. if one has a boring patch it could change things significantly.

It's not the overnights that matter, its the raw live viewership for Doctor Who, it is that that will affect The Voice. And Doctor Who does not have a 'huge' live viewership, its not massively difference to Pointless in that respect, of course Doctor Who though piles on masses before the overnights.

Maybe they'll sell it to non-football followers as David Beckham vs Lionel Messi (although Becks won't play the full game).

I don't think Doctor Who will make much difference to The Voice - yes it'll have a decent audience but will it have the same audience?

Although Dr Who has a loyal audience for many of even the usual default BBC1 audience it's an indication to venture to the other side for 45 minutes, and this is generalising a lot but in TV terms Doctor Who and The Voice are kind of polar opposites.

Indeed even in terms of the overnights Doctor Who is actually kind of competition for The Voice too with people recording it and watching later in the evening. Do we have any figures for actual live plus same day timeshift viewing for last year?

Hmm, I think I'd still favour a Doctor Who lead in over a You've Been Framed lead in though. And BBC can promote it as a big Easter weekend with Hero on Friday, The Village on Sunday and Creek on Monday

Itv should have a good night tonight with Corrie and Foyles War filling its very strong Sunday schedule.

Dr Who, The Voice and Saturday Night Takeaway will all get no viewers whatsoever as, due to George Osbourne's incompetence, the collapse of the Cypriot economy and the coldest winter since mammoths were last seen skating on the River Thames, this country will run out of gas and electricity on Tuesday.

So next Saturday we'll all be sitting round a candle trying to listen to Radio Belgium on our battery radios.

Taking an average of the five Doctor Who episodes which aired in September 2012, about 78% (4.7m) of the overnight audience of 6.0m was live, the remaining 1.3m being same-day timeshift.

Remember that same-day timeshift is not necessarily hours later: it can be on a delay as short as 20 minutes to count as not live (I've seen 20 seconds also quoted here - does anyone know for sure?)

The timeshift on days 2-8 averaged just shy of 2m, so the total non-live figure was about 3.25m, two-fifths of the consolidated average of 8.0m.

I actually agree with this- look at the end of the day we're all just guessing at this moment and any of us could be wrong.
Considering that bbc are promoting the easter weekend and that this is the doctor who 50th anniversary year, I actually think doctor who will rate very high and may carry on some extra viewers who watched the xmas special. Its definitely going to be a good lead in for the voice, which to the bbc's credit, has been getting TONS OF PROMOTION plus its the blind auditions which were immensely popular last year. SNT is not going to collapse completely, but will be 'dented' massively- probably around 5-5.5 million.
The village, from most reviews, has been critically acclaimed- it is ambitious, intelligent, moving and often thought provoking. The thing is, with due respect, its not a 'dumbed down' period drama like downton abbey, selfridge or the paradise with 'soapy' elements designed to appeal to the masses. Its not 'fluffy' but is a very harsh and accurate portrayal of the 'working class' in the 2nd decade of the 20th century and may not appeal to a lot of viewers. It will rate well but will be like call the midwife ratings? it could be- no one ever expected sherlock to be a hit?
