The writing and storylines in EE are also not good and go round in circles all the time.”

The only continuity of the "old" EastEnders is Ian and Dot. Ian has been turned into this strange, weak character who has as much appeal as a cold curry and Dot is wasted on filler storylines that are hardly covered. The "yoof" are deliberately unlikeable and as such causes many viewers to switch off. When they had the gang storylines in Waterloo Road, ratings began to slide. The same is happening with EE. Far too much emphasis is placed on this gang culture storyline and older viewers who may already be afraid of the gang culture in their neighbourhoods may be put off by this incessant and ill-judged direction that EE has taken.
The only way EE can survive is if they go back top their roots. Where is the stable couple that the community can look up to? Everyone is separated, divorced, sleeping around etc. Where is the real community spirit that is clearly evident in Corrie that is bizarrely missing from EE?
They need to focus on characters the audience can engage with. Kat and Alfie was a couple destined to be forever. They messed that one up. Tanya and Max. They messed that one up. Would Denise suddenly find Ian attractive? The storylines are all a bit of mishmash and non-sensical. There is no focus on one particular story and as such the show seems disjointed and unenjoyable. Until the scriptwriters can get back some of the magic that made EE great ten years ago, then sadly there is just a couple more years of life in the show.
