All variants of The Apprentice now perform poorly compared to previous years and look tired in themselves, so I doubt Sugar will be as vocal anymore.

Sugar is a real bore on Twitter though, only ever tweeting about football or using it to flog his wares.

And Piers isn't always tweeting about Arsenal, Wenger, Sob Stories, his ailing US chat show, gun use in another country...?

Both are tedious boorish bores, hence why I don't follow either.

I wouldn't know, I don't follow him.

Piers does have the dubious honour of having been sacked as editor of two national newspapers

Can anyone think of any? There are loads of presenters but none a family entertainment double act and most just read autocue anyway.

Amazed that no-one else has surfaced in a over a decade to be any kind of a challenge. For about a minute Dick and Dom might have made an impression, but they were given a lemon and are still languishing on CBBC iirc.

Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway - 2009 Ratings
14/02 - 7.33m (31.7%)
21/02 - 6.39m (27.4%)
28/02 - 5.81m (25.4%)
07/03 - 6.53m (27.8%)
14/03 - 5.17m (22.7%)
21/03 - 6.03m (26.8%)

Worth noting then it was on from 19:45 to 21:00, whereas tonight is on from 19:00 to 20:20.

It was a tired show in 2009, I would be surprised if anticipation and curiosity dont drive this opener higher than 2009.
Just watching Lets Dance momentarily and the audience dont know who has actually danced. Rather sums things up.

Well there's the one show non-entities, can't remember their names, but no there aren't many. Willabooby and Schofield as well I suppose.

Thanks DMN. So 7.3million is the target for Saturday night takeaway or it will be worse ratings than first episode of its final series before hiatus.

Good show on ITV.

Has a good feel good factor and is current with the ads thing, live task over London, funny pranks.

The fact it's been rested is to its benefit, it doesn't feel stale. Good guests like David Walliams, Robbie Williams, Louis Walsh etc...

It's not rocket science why the pair are so successful. They are in many ways the "face of ITV" and the networks needs positive associations. I don't watch BGT or IAC so this is really the only show I get to see them and they've still definitely "got it" IMO obviously.

Reckon it'll be 6-7m tonight. Could climb across series to 7.5 or so!

ITV are doing promising things. Broadchurch and Ligtfields should do well and I see Celebrity Juice is being promoted as well as TOWIE. The former especially should pull 1.5-2m!
Then again since I'm apparently an ITVista I would say all this.

Excluding all the talent shows, light entertainment doesn't get better than that. All the best bits of old SNT and none of the bad bits.

Cut to the chase and just pre write your posts now. The rating was BAD news for itv, itv will be worried, are Ant & Dec's careers over etc etc.

Do yuo think it will get more or less than 7.3million who watched the previous series first episode?

So basically, if the show gets less than 7.3m, it's a ratings crisis?

To be fair, I loved the show, thought it was absolutely brilliant, filled with laughs. It could bloody well hit 7.3m or even higher but for what it is, anything higher than 6m is brilliant. So I wouldn't be too disappointed if it doesn't hit 7.3m.

Sam & Mark, but I don't think they are considered as 'good' as Ant & Dec if you like.

Not at all. But that is the kind of series opening ratings it was getting when it was supposedly struggling and had less hype. I still think 6.5million for it and should beat Lets dance.

I know SNT was trending on Twitter, not sure about Let's Dance. I think it is very likely SNT will beat the latter.

Are they overnights or actuals?

Of course in this situation + 1 should be included as it didn't exist in 2009

Well saying Celebrity Juice and TOWIE are a promising thing, would emphasise that point

Yet I'm looking forward to Broadchurch, not sure what Ligtfields is.

EDIT; Oh I see it Lightfields not got a great preview in the Guardian.

Well its 485 to 312 win for Ant and Dec in the thread war.

Realistically though, Ant and Decs show resembles traditional Saturday Night entertainment more than anything else and probably deserves to do well. Lets Dance was trying harder this week with some good dances and packed alot in but it still looked ragged and thrown together imo.

The BBC should do a reality search for a double act

(Actually that might not be a bad idea )

So nothing has really changed with Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, which in the short term is probably a good thing but in the long term not so much. I suspect it'll be neck and neck with Let's Dance (suffering fatigue of it's own nowadays) and will rate well enough this series with likely no serious competition from BBC1 for much of it's run - but rather than must watch Saturday night TV it is now the sort of show you'll watch (and enjoy) until something better comes along.

Someone mentioned on the SNT thread about Sam & Mark doing a SNT-type show on BBC One. They already happen to do one (which is aimed at younger viewers) on the CBBC Channel.
