does anyone know why ant and decs pokerface show never returned after two series years ago was it low ratings or lack of cash to film the show etc??????

i was looking back at some old clips of saturday night shows do many on here remember the all time stinkers the bbc and itv put out in years gone by????? could you add to the list????

red alert (bbc)( lotto show with lulu) was sooooooo bad
caught in the act (poor version of ybf with shane richie)
the joy of text (bbc) (v v v dodgy n bad)
ice worriors (itv) (dodgy gladiators on ice)
raise the roof (itv) (bore of a quiz show)

todays efforts from takeaway and lets dance arnt to everyones taste but surly better than years ago?????
Oh I can think of one mega stinker from the BBC in recent years on a Saturday that was so bad it was suspended, Don't Scare The Hare. Also I could add that weird people show with Ian Wright from about 13 years ago that came and went in a hurry.
For ITV, how about The Premiership, a really poor version of MOTD that had almost no action and was full of adverts, which struggled in its 7.00 slot. Also this shared its slot with the dog days of Blind Date, which had gone on ten years too long.

Don't Scare The Hare, Celebrity Wrestling, Red or Black, The Marriage Ref and Who Dares Sings( awful talent show with Denise van Outen) are well known disasters from the last ten years. Actually a show that seems to feature Denise van Outen is usually doomed to fail.

Not always, in the reign of Bad King John of Birt, England home games went to Sky with a highlights show on ITV. There was this bizarre set up where Scotland, Wales and Ireland home games were shown on the BBC, and England and France home games were on Sky, with highlights on ITV.
most popular ball game( mind you I'm a league man and Whitehaven got beat today
That was when the 6 nations or 5 nations as it was sold the TV rights differently. Country's governing body (or what ever you call them) like the RFU for example sold the rights themselves. the autumn Internationals are still sold like this The BBC now only have the live rights for Wales and Scotland having lost Ireland to sky this year and England's games some time ago.

Now the 6N rights are one big package and I don't know if sky couldn't be bothered with the non England games or what. Luckily the BBC have really focussed in on it and hold on. I think the do a really good job with it. And I remember being very happy when the got it all back. Great day. A very rare day as well.

Talking of all of these dodgy shows on a Saturday, Duel was a really good show on ITV, which they only did 1 series of, a massive shame to me.

Yes it was a big deal the England games going of the BBC. Big mistake. I still think the RFU should try more FTA coverage outside the RWC and the 6N. ITV wouldn't mind picking up the odd match.

It really says something about British tv when a comedy from the seventies outrates everything else on TWO.

Could itv really schedule dancing on ice on a worse day and time slot nowadays though. It no longer faces lark rise on sundays. Even midweek on a winter wedensday night at 8pm after coronation street this show would rate much better. Perhaps they want to kill it off now.

Neil, if you have a minute and the access, do you have demos (16-34 and ABC1) for Takeaway, The Cube and Wossy last night? And Piers Morgan from Friday and Food, Glorious Food from Wednesday as well if you can?
Wed 27 Feb
Food Glorious Food: 2.74m (12.7%) inc +1
* 16-34 demo: 304k (8.0% share, 11% skew, TVR = 2.1)
* ABC1 demo (inc kids): 1.11m (11.3% share, 40% skew, TVR = 3.6)

Fri 1 Mar
Piers Morgan's Life Stories: 4.06m (17.8%) inc +1
* 16-34 demo: 502k (13.9% share, 12% skew, TVR = 3.4)
* ABC1 demo (inc kids): 1.73m (16.1% share, 43% skew, TVR = 5.6)

Sat 2 Mar
Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway: 7.17m (32.0%) inc +1
* 16-34 demo: 1.49m (38.2% share, 21% skew, TVR = 10.1)
* ABC1 demo (inc kids): 2.72m (27.5% share, 38% skew, TVR = 8.9)

The Cube: 4.51m (20.1%) inc +1
* 16-34 demo: 941k (24.6% share, 21% skew, TVR = 6.4)
* ABC1 demo (inc kids): 1.80m (18.1% share, 40% skew, TVR = 5.9)

The Jonathan Ross Show: 3.49m (16.3%) inc +1
* 16-34 demo: 811.5k (21.15% share, 23% skew, TVR = 5.5)
* ABC1 demo (inc kids): 1.68m (17.0% share, 48% skew, TVR = 5.5)

===========
Explanation of terminology:
e.g. 811.5k 16-34-year-olds watched Jonathan Ross on average through the programme. This was 21.15% of all 16-34-year-olds watching TV during that slot (share), and 5.5% of all 16-34-year-olds whatever they were doing (TVR). That demo made up 23% of all the people watching Jonathan Ross (skew).

As if Dancing on Ice's figures could get any worse, they now have 15 minutes of filler as they've had to cancel the skate off because of illness.

Thanks for all that data, Neil!

Good result for ITV Saturday nights there, 16-34 share across over 3 hours will have been well over 25%. The Cube skews a fair bit older compared to Take Me Out (but young compared to most other shows). So it really needs to be posting those kinds of total ratings to get a good audience in that demo.

No comfort for Food, Glorious Food in those numbers, however. The ABC1 skew is decent but with ABC1's you need a big total audience for it to work. Two whole TVR points behind Piers (who airs on a Friday night and probably costs a good bit less).

It might level out a little bit. It could be higher at the start to see if he was in the bottom 2 or not, and then when he was announced to be withdrawing the figures might fall even further off the cliff. I'd expect something like 5-5.5m for the first half, and probably around 4-4.5m right now.

I know - they had to actually show people skating. Three routines - all uninterupted by ads. Someone will surely be fired for this.

20:15 - NCIS (r): 1.00m (4.5%) / 1.03m (4.6%)
21:10 - NCIS (r): 1.01m (4.6%) / 1.065m (4.9%)
22:10 - Law & Order: Special Victims Unit: 1.04m (5.8%) / 1.08m (6.0%)
23:05 - Law & Order: Criminal Intent: 838k (7.0%) / 907k (7.6%)
24:00 - SuperCasino (to 26:00): 62k (1.3%) exc +1

It looks like CSI: NY was run without ads, judging by the timings. Presumably they packed in the maximum allocation of commercials during NCIS and L&O: SVU, their heavy hitters.

As Dancc says, Channel 5 work around Casualty, saving their first Law & Order original until after the hospital drama finishes.

Wonder how Mayday will rate tonight? Been heavily trailed these past few days and started almost straight after Call The Midwife, which had a very strong episode tonight, so there wasn't alot of chance for viewers to float off...

[EDIT: It's also quite good]
