They set up in-house a while ago, IIRC.

Why do ITV bother with all this celebrity/ reality garbage?

They have made a few one-offs/specials in the past year or so, as well as Kitchen Wars. It's only a small percentage though, they are still great supporters of the indies.

Will Kitchen Wars get another series do you know?

Because people watch it? The best rating entertainment shows of 2013 so far... Dancing On Ice, Lets Dance for Comic Relief and Splash! The #1 entertainment show of 2012 - Strictly Come Dancing. Celebrity Big Brother doing far better than the regular one. Celebrity versions of gameshows rating higher too. The only other hit of 2012 was The Voice... a singing talent show crammed with celebrity judges and guests.

The blame for all this lies squarely at the door of whichever BBC executive decided it would be a good idea to get the ginger whinger to present Friday's One Show.”

Whether or not Adrian quit The One Show and GMTV was still on air, I do think it would be basically what Daybreak is now and would be rating similarly.

The Adrian & Christine era of Daybreak may be the most watched but that was down on the year or so of GMTV before it. ITV Breakfast has been in decline for years and nothing seems to be halting it. Likewise if Adrian & Christine were still there I think it would still have similar ratings to what it is getting today.

The problem with it is simply because its rubbish. Monday was a good day to showcase what they can do to see if any viewers would be interested in switching but it got absolutely slated on Twitter. The problem is it doesn't know what type of programme it wants to be and it is far too dated. They address it with every relaunch but then they end up going back to how it was. Whilst they continue to do that, nothing will change.

To be honest they should just hand over to ITN from 6-8am to produce a lighter news programme (they can do it for Channel 5) because ITV are obviously incapable, and then bring Lorraine on a bit earlier which is when Daybreak goes into fluffy overload anyway.

Point taken. I know loads of people like all that, but I do actually like some of it but there's just too much of this stuff...

Definitely not.

I'm still glad they tried it though. You have to take risks occasionally and inevitably they won't always pay off. I didn't think it was bad at all to be honest, although Marco Pierre White is something of a marmite character and I think there's more out there that hate him than love him.

Why are light entertainment productions so difficult to create. You would think a department would be brainstorming the next big hit given the investment in the big british television companies. Itv has paid to get the rights to the stars in their eyes clone. The bbc paid to get the rights to an x factor clone. How about coming up with another strictly to sell around the world.

Oh did it rate badly? I only saw the last episode and it wasn't too bad.

How's TV3 holding up ratings wise lately, out of interest? I can never seem to find the Irish ratings but I know you post them occasionally.

Very very badly. And they've just tried another cooking show which also flopped so they ought to just leave that genre alone now. There's already too many on TV anyway.

They have replaced Frow with Jeff Ford.

TV3 are down quite a bit in share in 2012 versus 2011. Still ahead on RTE2, but the lack of cash is apparent. And declining X Factor ratings (less local interest - no Jedward or Mary Byrne) and no local version of The Apprentice due to lack of cash doesnt help.

Yeah. I think towards the end it was down to about 300,000. And this was at 8pm when they normally get three or four times that. It was a total disaster basically.

How about 'The Your'e a Vision Song Contest'. Persuade politicians from major EEC nations to pretend to be one of their nations best loved stars and sing a song written for them by that star.

Not a copy of anything (much). ITV can sell it all over Europe without fear of being sued.

Series high was for Brain Hospital is 999,342 (5.7%) exc. +1 on 12/02/13.

A programme aimed at Express readers would be a combination of a miracle drug to cure.... (fill in your own favourite illness) and Arctic weather to grip Britain.Presented by Richard Desmond and his wife.

In the US, "Cult" premiered on The CW last night with an embarrassing 0.94million viewers. That converted into a 0.3 in the 18-49 demo and did even worse in the 18-34 demo where it got a 0.2.

I think a 0.3 for a series premiere is probably the lowest debut ever for the big 5 channels.

As georgeS has pointed out - they really do miss The Apprentice on a Monday. The replacement shows like Paul Connolly Investigates/24 Hours To Kill haven't reached the heights of what The Apprentice would get.

Dallas did well in it's first series, but wonder will it suffer the same ratings collapse life Channel 5 did when it launched on Monday.

Their first ever home produced drama called Deception didn't go down too well with critics or viewers.

I feel Jeff Ford has a big job on his hands. if they ever lost Coronation St and Emmerdale - they would be in serious trouble.
