So, you admit you didn't watch it, but still feel qualified to slag it off.
Hey ho, as you say. |

Lewis didn't have drama competition though, and certainly not crime drama competition like Broadchurch has had. I think 6.4m for episode 2 against a 5m crime drama on BBC1 is very good going, especially as it only dropped 0.4m from episode 1 from episode 2, whereas most new dramas drop quite a bit more than that.
And if your going to lump +1 into comparisons you have to accept that any clashes are lessened as people can watch both with no clash. |

Tennant pulls 'em in, even on ITV!
What was the opener for Broadchurch - 6.7m, or did that include repeat? I lose track.... Either way it dropped a fair bit. 6 weeks to go... |

Broadchurch seems to be doing well given the competition it has faced, both of which had launched strongly just the night before. It'll be interesting to see how it does against Motorway Cops next Monday, it might see a boost from that. Although I suspect it might also bring down the +1 number quite a bit as well.

Well, 5.8m overnight viewers. Is that "pulling them in" given the publicity and hype?

I think Broadchurch will be renewed although I think they'll have to spinoff the two characters,

Quite a timeshift for Broadchurch, over 2m. Just goes to show it's not the end of the world if it ends with up an overnight of 6m.

On the one hand it isn't great for so mamy people to be timeshifting instead of watching live. On the other hand, the fact that 2.3m bothered to record it and watch at a later late when it was against another drama bodes well for next week when it only faces Motorway Cops. Some of those timeshifters should watch live next week so the overnight might improve.
9.1m is a cracking audience either way though. I wonder what it will be up against on Easter Monday? |

![]() So bad news for the broadcaster, but good for the advertisers. http://acbuk.net/pdfs/PVR_CONFERENCE...AND_UPDATE.pdf Also the sponsor's bumper is a useful stop point for timeshifters. |

Fantastic. ![]() People obviously recording it as it was up against a drama which ran all week, you could hardly record Mayday and catch up in time. Broadchurch should be up next week. |

In a rare feat for US broadcast television, The Bachelor posted a 3.3 for its SEVENTEENTH season finale and a 3.8 for its "After The Final Rose" special, up 0.4 and 0.5 from last year respectively.
Across the season, The Bachelor averaged a 2.8 among adults 18-49, putting it on a par with the second tier of US reality series like X Factor (2.9), Survivor (2.8) and America's Got Talent (2.8). The Following was down two tenths from last week to a 2.6 rating. But that's actually great news for FOX because last week it had a Bones lead-in, this week it was a repeat, so it seems like the show is strong on its own. |

Amazing official figure for Broadchurch and extremely well deserved too. I don't get the whole BBC v ITV debate at all, and why ITV is criticised if they do well with a show like this. It'll only encourage the BBC to become more competitive and creative if ITV becomes stronger, so it's a win win for both channels and they'll both keep showing quality stuff and not become complacent. The whole battle and bias is completely alien to me. Why would you want one channel doing crap, and the other channel doing really well? Credit where it's due - ITV has done well with this show so far and the signs are looking very good for the next six weeks.

Solid ratings I expect. I hope it hit's 5m to put it in good stead for the slot changes next week. Running it at 8pm from next week is a good move. It seems not quite right at 9pm. BBC One have Prisoners wives on Thursday for 4 weeks and then next week it has the syndicate on Tuesdays for 6 weeks. Monday will be a weak day for them with Motorway cops and Friday is weak until comedy returns. Sunday should be good a usual and it has big shows on Saturday. So not bad. Ken |

Broadchurch is a big result for Kudos as well, they've got a lot of stick recently, but they're clearly capable of producing big hits in the genre even if they have had a few flops.
