'The Story of My Life'....... followed by 'Magic Moments', both songs writ by Burt, became back to back No.1 songs in the UK.
Quite an achievement, but for Burt, that was only the beginning !

Big admirer of Burt Bacharach. Very talented songwriter.

"Magic Moments" by Perry Como has just played on Radio 2, in a review of the charts of February 1958. It's the no.2 single.

"The Story Of My Life" by Michael Holliday currently playing in that same Radio 2 programme. It's the no.1 single.

So Burt wrote the top two songs of this week in 1958 - Tony Blackburn obviously read the OP's post before choosing to do this week in 1958 in his old charts programme!

I saw a documetary about Burt Bacharach and Hal David many years and to say he was a perfectionist does not say enough. His attention to every detail and I mean every detail was amazing. He was recording an album and was, at that moment, with Dione Warwick who had to sing exactly as he directed. The song I forget but was one of the many hits he and his pal made. I have a "Greatest Hits" cd and it is loaded with superb tracks.

My particular favorites by Burt Bacharach and Hal David are:

I Say a Little Prayer - even though it was originally written for Dionne Warwick I prefer the Aretha Franklin version:

The Look of Love - Dusty Springfield

This Guy's in Love With You - Herb Alpert

There are a million versions on a million TV shows, Burt songs were the stock in trade of shows back in the 60s and 70s, sadly reality type shows have taken over and we hardly ever hear a Bacharach song on TV these days .
