Melanie is a vocal powerhouse, Amelia never claimed to be a powerhouse, but she was one of the best vocalists of that series despite being branded 'shouty'. I think it works because she's a new artist she's still trying to find who she is in terms of being an artist and what sound suits her.

Several artists during their time on the show speak of who their influences and inspirations are but it doesn't necessarily mean they will end up releasing music in a similar vein to those artists. I would say Amelia was more pop during the show than a rock chick, she performed one Kelly Clarkson song that's it.

She sang Show must go on, Piece of my heart, I'm with you and Since You been gone which are at least pop/rock. Plus, she has this raspy voice which suits pop/rock singers really well. Electro doesn't showcase her voice at all.

Supporting Girls Aloud wont do her any harm at all. Be interesting to see how the rest of 2013 pans out for the class of 2011 in Amelia, Little Mix and Misha B, although I do think Misha B might be a casualty and fall off the mainstream scene by the end of this year.

I reckon Mish may do well with Here's to Everything. We'll have to see. Amelia has gone down that horrible Conor Maynard and Calvin Harris road which is generic dance track road so she may do well. Little Mix has already established itself and is trying to break America now. LM is incontrovertibly doing the best right now and has done better than many winners before it in all likeliness.

However, it's a whole different story for Amelia and Mish. I just want them to do what they did on the XF. It's what made me love them in the first place, but they're not doing that...

Yes, she is a "rock chick" but ROCK music isn't trendy right now.

No no no, Vash. First, it is not about trend, it is about being yourself, having an identity. Then, there is no such thing as rock is not trendy. Pop/rock has never stopped to be popular in any way shape or form. From the beatles to today's music.

Again same example : Kelly Clarkson, 11 years of pop/rock, still at the top. She never asked herself, is it trendy ? No it is just good pop rock. Plus, I would say guitar is trendy, especially with the wave of acoustic music on youtube and on radios. And Amelia is really good with acoustic guitars. I'm thinking about Shut Up acoustic which is really nice.

Amelia still has her identity, she is proving herself to be a worthy popstar.

And it IS all about trends. Rock music in the UK is nowhere near as popular/trendy as it was between 2004-2008.

At the moment, Dance/Pop is the current trend.

Kelly Clarkson may be a pop/rock goddess but her last album "Stronger" was danced-up a bit.

Danced-up. Uptempo, whatever.

Mumford and Sons are one of the VERY few "rock" acts. I think they are boring. They are only popular because of their counter-demographic market (People who don't listen to generic pop music)

Lawson aren't really rock, they are just a boyband that play instruments. A Pop band.

Fun are just a one-hit wonder Power-Pop band.

Ben Howard is becoming popular for the same reason Mumford and Sons became popular.
