I've just purchased an Orange Motorola V66e. FIne phone in appearance but has the following firmware faults.

1) Cannot view phonebook or calendar if turned on whilst charging. The only solution is to disconnect the charger, turn the phone on then connect the charger.

2) Managed to crash the phone with a long phonebook name (Orange Customer Services). It would dial, you could talk but it would fail to disconnect the line after pressing the hang-up button. The solution was to delete the last S in services.

3) I've also just found out today that you can't use cheap third-party personal hands-free kits. I got one bundled with my phone from the shop and it buzzed like hell. Tried another hands-free kit, still buzzed. Got a replacement phone from Orange (presumed it was the phone) and it still buzzed. FInally, tried a proper Motorola hands-free kit - no buzzing. Shop finally admitted that Motorola appear to be tainting the signal from the headphone jack to make it buzz with appropriate circuitry to remove the buzz.

Still waiting for firmware update from Motorola.

Thought I'd post this as Orange seem to be unaware of these problems. Motorola were of (1) but not (2) and did not admit to (3).

I have a Motorola V50 (the next model down). I don't have problems with it and I got the proper Motorola hands free kit with it. Mine's a pay as you go phone through BT Cellnet. I do have a few problems like when you first switch your phone on and it takes ages to get from one menu to the other, but really I think it's a great phone.

I gave my third-pary headset to a girl at work who has a V50 - it worked fine. I really like the phone and my last phone was a Motorola L7089 (I am occasionally required to work in the USA so a Tri-Band comes in handy).

I just get annoyed when companies release phones with obvious bugs, such as not being able to see the phonebook when charging in some circumstances.

Just got my official motorola headset today - it works fine, no buzzing.

Has anybody tried a V66 with GPRS enabled on Orange?
