Updated BBC iPlayer

Is anyone finding a problem with BBC iPlayer after the recent update, on the iPad?

When I run airplay, I get a message "An error occurred loading this content - Try again later"

When I look at the multi-tasking controls, on the bottom bar the airplay/mirroring button has disappeared and so I have to do a reset to get it back

Mirroring does work, as it does with ITV player

You don't need to mirror on BBC's iPlayer App (unlike ITV Player)

You do need to go to the multitasking controls still however to switch AirPlay on.

It seems to be working fine with me. Maybe you should close all open apps (long press on the home button), then try a restart of your iPad. Could be something wrong there.

I've deleted the app and downloaded it again, as this was suggested by iPlayer Support Team, but it still won't give me airplay, and I get the same error message

Can you AirPlay through other apps? If yes, then you should be able to AirPlay with the BBC. If not, the problem may be nothing to do with the iPlayer app, but a connection issue between your iPad/iPhone and the Apple TV.

Can you test that for us?

One more thing. Try shutting down and restarting the Apple TV (use the menu to select "restart")

And also fully restart your iOS device (full shutdown by holding the wake button for a few seconds)

I've found this has solved similar AirPlay issues in the past.

Where is this iplayer support team? All I see from the bbc webpage iplayer contacts is a link here.

Also, why does the BBC ipad iplayer app not have a volume control on the app, its most annoying.
All other similar apps TVCatchup, Music apps, Slingplayer, Sky go all have volume controls and much easier for the user than the volume rocker.

Tried to airplay my photos, and that didn't work either

lettice: if you go here and use the drop-down options, and send it off, they MAY reply in time

Sounds very much like the problem is related to AirPlay rather than the specific iPlayer app.

Have you tried to fully restart both the Apple TV and your iPad by shutting them fully down? (it may also help to close all iPad apps first)

Are both the iPad and the Apple TV on the same local network?

Thx, I submitted there before, never got a response.
Its all just programme related too, not really a problem/suggestion about the app.

ovbg: yeah, I meant to mention that i did all the resets both on the iPad and the ATV.
Indeed, I too think it must be airplay related, not many other having problems, although there was a guy on macrumours forum that did.

Will try and persevere with it.....thanks for your input mate, much appreciated

No worries... I used to have lots of AirPlay problems with my old access point. Do you have by any chance a spare (old) Wi-Fi access point you could set up, or borrow one from a friend or neighbour?

It may be a long shot, but this could be an issue, especially if it is a problem with AirPlay itself.

As soon as I bought my new router/access point, all problems went away.. well except for the first time two nights ago, but restarting both devices fixed that.

I don't have a spare access point, only have it going to my Buffalo router and from there to the modem.
There are 3 other devices connected to the router at various times, not sure if this makes any difference

Maybe you will need to reset the Apple TV, or at the very least, switch off AirPlay in the settings, and try switching it on again.
