I have nothing against Matt but he shot himself in the foot, it was a mistake to start bitching about the show he won.
I must admit Olly Murs is now starting to annoy me a little because he keeps talking about how he isn't respected like he should be because of coming from the show and fair enough express this, but he has mentioned it a few times in recent months.. |

Matt has taken the "male winners curse" to an entirely new (subterranean) level. No other winner--male or female--has been outsold by the runner-up of their series and the third place finisher and the fourth place finisher. Rebecca, 1D, and Cher Lloyd have all shifted shedloads compared to Cardle.
He's still done better than Mary Byrne (#5) and Wagner (#6), though. Small favours...

And even if he is saying it a lot. So what? It's absolutely true. The music industry is full of vile snobs like Jake Bugg, Noel and the Brits bigwigs. The Brits denied Leona four awards the year she went big. Unbelievable really. |

![]() People liked his voice, and they seemed to like him at first... I'm sure everyone thought that he would be a successfull winner at first. Weirdly, his behaviour seems to have turned people against him and his voice (look how everyone complains about his falsetto when many people admired it during the X factor). |

I think it was a case of his material after the show not being up to the quality of those three, at least in terms of appropriateness to their target audience. His debut single was just bland, and I can only vaguely remember what it sounds like. At the same time What makes you Beautiful is probably only second to Bleeding Love in terms of memorability.

Lets be honest, they had big plans for 1D from the moment they created them for the show.

If you consider Matt only amassed 1 million copies of When We Collide in June 2012 and James managed it with Impossible in under two months, I don't think so.

Anyway back on topic, I did quite like Matt on the show, but when he released his own music I just found him very unlikeable for some reason, whilst 1D and Cher have actually grown on me since the show finished. |

The winner's single is by no means indicative of future success.. look at Little Mix doing well now after having by far the worst performing winner's single ever. Where are Matt Cardle and Leon Jackson now whose winners singles performed much better?

James also has gone worldwide and is #4 in the Australian charts. Did 'When We Collide' do any of that? Has any winner's single so far been released globally? Nope. Except Alex's, none!

Did Syco/Columbia release 'When We Collide' outside Ireland and the UK? Perhaps that is why Matt did not have much luck with the track in Australia.
perhaps they didn't feel much interest outside ireland and the uk at the time? |

Ok, except you've missed my point entirely. Why do you think Syco never released When We Collide outside the UK?? Why do you think they did with Impossible? Easy, because Impossible was their most successful venture yet, way more than When We Collide! It basically demonstrates that Matt was a failure and James is a success (thus far).
Tired of these Matt vs James debates... But i do think that the reason the released James's single outside the Uk is because times have moved on ..the UK market is shrinking just look at album sales ..international sucess have become much more important to get a return for the money ..both songs were chosen for both these artists ..i dont think any other x factor winners single has been released outside the uk..but i could be wrong With James the have been intelligent ..good song released in europe ..where they do watch the x factor youtube gives him a much broader base to work on in the future much better return Good marketing in my opionion |
