Robbie Williams' shoddy BRITs performance of Candy.
Did anybody thing Robbie's performance was anywhere near good enough? He is married with a kid now so seemingly has something to live for at last, but he still seems dead behind the eyes.
iTunes 'tweeted' me this morning telling me I could pay the bargain sum of 99p to own the recording of the momentous performance forever, but I didn't take them up on the offer. Here is a further review of that awful affair and 5 better ways to spend your 99p and get a better return. http://tunewaffle.wordpress.com/2013...ie99pbargains/ |

Haha! I love it how the DS writer said that Rob had the most rabid fanbase! Lololol. What made my day though was when he thought Rob should have won. Oh my god...

Unfortunately his voice has taken a battering over the years and it now seems he can't sing live to a good standard.
Which is a shame as his Knebworth concerts were something special. |

He used to be an incredible performer
But he was awful at the brits. His voice a bit meh but that could be forgiven, but he was lifeless and stiff. Musically and performance wise, he hasn't as good since his work work with Guy Chambers. |

He is a tiresome oaf that we as a supposedly music loving nation really need to very quickly get rid.
His music is just beyond irrelevant, he was never a good singer or songwriter, he has some "personality" ok, but please for the love of god put this man out to grass. |

Which is a shame as his Knebworth concerts were something special. I heard him interviewed on Radio 1 by Greg James before his performance and he said he was struggling to remember the words and that he would rate his rehearsals as being about 5 or 6 out of 10, so he said not to expect too much from him and he would probably be somewhere between a 5 or a 6 out of 10 on the night. His interview came across as a bit tongue in cheek, but I think he knew himself that he wasn't really up for it and actually said as much when he was interviewed on ITV2 after the show. He was up for an award that he knew he wasn't going to win, singing to a load of record execs that he probably couldn't give a toss about and singing a song that no doubt he was told he had to perform as it was up for best single. Personally I don't like Candy and would have preferred him to sing something else instead. I guess Robbie looked as though he felt the same and was just going through the motions on stage and gave the impression that he would rather have been watching it on telly at home with the missus! Thought the staging was fantastic though!! |

I watched up til the end of the first chorus then gave up. He sounds rough.
However, his suit is fabulous.

I don't really expect good vocals form Robbie Williams but he did sound pretty bad. It wouldn't have hurt for them to play a backing track..especially since he kept pausing and stuff.

I felt embarrassed for him. I know he's never been a great singer but it was worse than a drunk dad singing karaoke.
Robbie is the perfect example of someone who should write songs for others for a living but never set foot behind a microphone himself. |

I did quite like him at one stage and his Knebworth gigs were great to watch on TV, his voice sounded pretty good back then too. Then he obviously broke from his regular songwriters and I don't think he recovered that. I hugely dislike Candy, its a horrible song. Years of abuse of his voice [ fags and booze mainly I guess ], just won't have helped in the long run. I didn't watch him this week, if he was not putting in 100% that is unforgivable, if only because he would have had his fans tuning in to see him. You should always put in 100% if its 10 or 10000 people.

his set looked amazing...... he looked great too..... but it was as if he couldnt be bothered to sing ...so he was out of time and he talked rather than sang. WEhen he did attempt to sing he was out of tune or shouty. Maybe he has lost confidence?

i think he sounded bad because the song is bad...
but i do kind of like the extended edit which is 8 minutes long and practically the first 3 minutes is instrumental :3 |

?My problem with Robbie, though, is that he's such an unlikeable arse, but clearly holds himself in quite high regard. His whole "oh I am poor tortured Robbie, I have poor self esteem" act got old about a decade ago. |

I thought the performance was okay. No worse than I am generally used to hearing from him these days. I actually think the song is his best for donkey's years.

He doesn't do a lot to disguise the fact it's such a nursery rhyme tune - even singing "ring - a -ring - roses" at one point. I still think it sounds like an old Sinitta song as well. Horrible vocal too. Who in their right mind bought it?
