The Master and Davros: How could they return?
Two of the biggest archenemies in entire series the Doctor has ever faced are the Master, a fellow Time Lord who is out for the conquest of the universe, and Davros, the very creator of the Dalek race. The last time we saw either of them were at the end or RTD's run; with Davros aboard a burning Crucible as it exploded, and the Master blasting Rassilon with lightning as Gallifrey was sent back into the War.
In my opinion, I find it hard to believe that they are gone for good, and I'm confident that they'll return one day. When, I'm not too sure, but one day, that is for sure. As for how they would return, is another matter, I'm not so certain. I do like to think about how they've returned from 'death' during the Classic Series to get an idea on how this could happen. For Davros, his returns usually had something to do with the Daleks needing him. Something would come up that would devastate them, and they would need their great creator in order to help them. Davros would then try to control them, which would end in devastator for everyone involved. Could this be repeated for his return? Could the New Dalek Empire find themselves in such trouble that they would need his assistance? Will they find him hidden away in some sort of escape pod, waiting to be awaken? The Master on the other hand, always survived. One of my favorite traits of the Anthony Ainley-version is that no matter what, no matter what happened to him at the end of the story, he'd always turn up perfectly fine in the next story, with almost no mention on how he did it. I think this would be a nice way for him to come back; the Doctor finding himself in trouble only to find out the Master is behind it, a bit of banter but no real explanation on just how he'd still alive. Also, no more drums. I'd really like it if he'd go back to being evil for the hell of it. I'd also like it, that like the Daleks, they weren't killed at the end of the story, and left to be constant enemies in the Doctor's life. What do you think? Could they come back? How could they come back? |

There is always room for the master to return infact I think the master might return by Christmas this year.
So far Smith hasn`t faced the master yet would be interesting I think. |

i think a Davros and Master return should play a part in the 50th special myself. Afterall they are a staple part of 'who' over the years...
how do they get out of the situations they were left in when we last saw them??? Well with Davros I think the Daleks should rediscover who the Doc is (by evaluating his past incarnations) and then capture him again.. hold Clara hostage and force the Doc to take the Tardis to the exact point that Tennants Doc got away from the Crucible and get Davros just before it explodes... Various nods to old Docs along the way there... With the master... well it can only be a time vortex manipulator that explains how he disapeared without being sucked into the time war.... |

Of course they will return. How could anyone doubt it? They always do and hopefully as wonderfully delightfully evil as always. I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see them both back for the 50th.
As for how they escaped as most have said who cares? |

I'd like to see the Master, just for the face-off again Matt Smith. We know how Smith can switch into snarling rage mode, although he seems to have mostly used it against companions or associates. I'd like to see a proper face-to-face showdown with a like mind.

Agreed but who to play him? Do we get John Sims back like Anthony Ainsley or do we need a new actor?

His psychic essence could have survived being pulled back to Gallifrey perhaps, ripped away from his physical body as the lock closed. He could find another host easily enough, with the eventual aim of stealing the Doctor's body and stealing his Timelord biology. |

I thought John Simms was brilliant.
Anyone can come back in Dr Who, parallel universe, rip in the fabric of reality. That's why it's brilliant. |

I liked John Simm, but I think The Master should be a new incarnation should he return.

I'm still hoping for a return of Jacobi as The Master myself, there has got to be a way in all of space, time and alternative realities to have him play the part again, and perhaps he could do The Master as less of a basket case, more a superior intellect, who having watched all these primitive humanoids screw up relentlessly, deciding he should really take control for their own good.
Of course whats for their own good in the long run might be seen as fascist dictatorship, but he's a timelord and knows best. |

I would love to see a Davros story where the Daleks are in no way involved.

Both of them really are overdue a return now.
Don't care how they're brought back but I want them back. |

With The Master there's always scope for the Doctor to return to the locked Gallifrey in some way (and there were loose ends left there that were clearly created to be tied up a later date ...if they felt like it).
I wouldn't be surprised to see Gallifrey/The Master make a return for the whole "first question" business. ..as far as Davros..well he either did an emergency temporal shift or escaped in a pod during the explosion when you weren't looking. |
