since i bought my new T-Mobile Sharp TM100 on 28/12/04, i've had 2 calls from a Withheld number, once the other night (cant remember time or date) and the latest one: 00:32 on 03/01/05

since i dont answer withheld calls, i dont know who it is but if it does it again, i will answer because i want to know just who the hell it is on the other end

once is enough, but 00:32??? that's takin the ****!

at first i thought it was either T-Mobile themselves (as O2 call their customers using "Withheld" numbers) or some company trying to sell me something, but since the latest one is after midnight, that narrows it down to being someone i know... or someone dialling the wrong number using a withheld number to call from...

the last two occasions i bought t mobile phones, the same thing happened. the first time was just after i activated the sim card.. i had a phone call. i answered it and got just silence... when i put the phone down, a message came on my phone telling me that i had 60 pence taken off my account...

the second time was after a couple of days, same thing happened. and 50 pence was taken out.... t mobile deined all knowlege of it.... so who had the money..... you cannott be charged for recieving calls, unless they are from abroad....
i am certain it was t mobile.....

You can ask T-Mobile if they would change the number saying you are getting calls for the previous owner even in the early hours of the morning.

If you phone all guns blazing then they are very unlikely to help.

To me I think this is another scam I saw something like this from The Bill while back. Way to make money from your mobile phone if you phone up the police or something. Girl borrow your phone and she then dials out some how steal your credits to their mobile phone.

T-Mobile re-use their numbers too often as I was trying to phone a friends phone and I never realised it was his old one and I got the message that you get before a sim cards activated "we are not able to connect your call please redial" and not the incorrect number message or anything.

All mobile phone and land line providers do the same!
My friend got a number that used to be an extra line to the doctors, I cannot tell you how many people have tried to order a repeat prescription from him

But some networks take a good few years like Virgin for example they just get new numbers like just now they have 07913 and before that they used 07910 and 07981 but you never see them re-using the 07906,07905,07952,07941 or 07963 numbers again on Virgin

right, the withheld number thing has stopped, now i'm gettin' calls and texts from an 07947 number (definately T-Mobile or Virgin), they keep asking me to guess who they are and it's doing my head in

should i report it to T-Mobile?

I think that was an old one2one number but it could have been used on T-Mobile before after the takeover even possibly just last year it could have been someone elses number.

My T-Mobile numbers i have start 07903, 07958 & 07957 and i don't have any problems with them at all like this i would phone them up after all it will only cost 25p/call.

Another T-Mobile number if I were you I would seriously consider phoning up T-Mobile to sort this problem.

but read this, posted on another forum outside of DS:

Ive had this before and mobile telephone companies dont really care about it... They wont block the number and they wont let you report it so they dont have to take action against it... In the end I had my number changed (free of charge)
*below is from a post by me on the same forum*

i'm not changing number again, i've had enough number changes (thanks to Three), i dont need another new one!
