I post this cos iv'e often wondered about that myself. Do you think they actually do know this or do you think they don't or if we don't think of them as a single entity but as 5 people, does one of them think it or maybe two, there must be at least one i'd guess...if so who?

Jake Bugg is such an idiot, though. Does he realise he's nothing more than a lame sub-Oasis rip-off with bad hair and even worse lyrics ("Skin up a fat one / hide from the feds", indeed!)

As for 1D, I honestly doubt they care. They're probably too busy shagging waitresses, driving fancy cars and getting into embarrasing twitter arguments with Boy George and/or the Empire State Building to pay much attention to the songs handed to them.

They fill a need for the tweenies. They are very good at what they do.

However I doubt they would listen to or buy the music they make. I think once the novelty of success goes then they will get bored and either split whilst they're still at the top or try and become a more contemporary, relevant and cool pop band.

that doesn't really answer the question, but you seem to be suggesting that yes they do think they're terrible but they don't care cos the money's good. Have i interpreted you correctly?

I think this singer is making himself look bad, and that's all he is achieving.

I don't think that they are bad, but to each their own.
But where does the rockstar thing come from? They don't think themselves that they are rockstars IMHO...

Terrible music is entirely subjective (and 1D's music, IMO, isn't terrible at all, just a bit lazy. Much like Mr Bugg's.) My point is that 1D are earning vast amounts of money, so whether the music is terrible or not, do you honestly think they care? By all means, I'm sure there are other things in their life that might make them unhappy, but I doubt the music itself is one of them.

But your question is flawed, isn't it?
Your opinion is that their music is terrible, along with Mr Bugg, but that's still an opinion, not a fact.

I agree. I actually think Jake Bugg has dug himself into a bit of a hole with this one. His music has been too embraced by commercial radio for the people really into alternative stuff to buy it. He probably shares more of a fanbase with 1D than he'd like to admit - there are an astonishing amount of hipster 1D fans out there. So all he's succeeded in doing is pissing those fans off. As for music buyers who don't like 1D and agree with him, he's preaching to the converted. This is a lose lose situation for him.

Well, I don't dislike 1D but I surely HATE that Jake Bugg. He thinks he's more talented than all the XF people

how is it flawed? and I haven't expressed an opinion that their music is terrible.

I was questioning whether it's likely that 5 boys in a band who are handed songs to sing are all likely to think this is good, or if at least 1 or 2 or even all 5 might think it's terrible. I didn't ask whether they cared or if they were too busy hobnobbing with Boy George, or anything else

Sorry, reading back over my replies I've probably been a bit curt with your OP. I think Jake Bugg just has that effect on me!

I guess my answer is that I don't think 1D would see their music being terrible. It obviously works for them. There might be a couple of members, however, that would like more musical input or a would prefer a 'cooler' sound (more in line with the type of music they like listening to) but they're probably of the opinion that the formula works for them, and they're not going to take for granted the amount of money they get from singing what could be argued are generic pop songs.

Don't remind of this twitter spat please! I am so not into that.

If we don't think that the songs are terrible, why would we think that they (or some of them) think that the songs are terrible?
It's pop, I don't think that all of them were into pop at first, so maybe at some point in the future, some would like to branch out into something else. And I am sure that they like some of the songs on their albums better than others too. I hope that no song that any of them disliked ended up on the album, but how would I know?

I take it you've only listened to Two Fingers then...

The album is fairly removed from Oasis tbh - in fact there is a whole folky/ country vibe to alot of the songs.

And I'm sorry any band who has the line 'chinny chin chin' as part of their lyrics are gonna come off worse in a song lyrics crapbattle

Nope, haven't listened to the album, just the two singles. I honestly don't think I'd like Jake Bugg's music, and I'm not going to give him money to feed his horrendous ego in order to find out, so I guess I'll never know whether the album is any good.

I agree that that chinny chin chin line is horrendous and almost kills Kiss you dead, which is a shame as it's probably 1D's second strongest single to date.

Oh young Jake. Did he finally learn how to speak? Reaping off Bob Dylan and the Gallaghers must be the way forward.

Soon to be forgotten, Tom Odell is getting all the love now.

To answer that question you need to be aware of each of the 1D band members motivation for being in the group, what motivates them performing the music they do - is it to make good music/are they only motivated by money/do they want to create a musical legacy or just make a quick million and exit.

As such, I would have thought that Jake Bugg or anyone else could reasonably comment on whether 1D think their terrible?

I think that their music is boring and shallow and their stage act I have seen many times before, but sadly there are a few others on this planet that don't.

By the way insert the word 'not' between the words 'would' and 'thought' in the second para above.

All these people who moan about 1D to the press or try and start twitter spats with them mostly just come across as attention seekers. They know it'll get into the news and that there's people there to be enraged and talk about it.

As for whether they know/think they are terrible, I doubt it and they have an abundance of evidence to think the opposite.
