Jake Bugg comes across as really bitter. He said a while ago it was his job to keep XF crap from the charts (referring to Leona) and now having a pop shot at 1D. I really think that someone who is just on their way up (Jake) ought to be careful who he slags off, it is sure to bite you when you are on the way back down.
I actually like a lot of 1D's singles, and of course they they are filling a market gap, and good luck to them. I really have a dislike for pretentious people like Jake. Each to their own, music taste wise, but he needs to grow up.

You got it in one. Free publicity obviously, now that 15 year old Brazillian 1D fan will want to know who this Jake Bugg character is.
I wonder what Jake Bugg's opinion of Frank Sinatra or Elvis Presley is as they relied on a team of songwriters and quite often sang cover versions? I am a fan of Jake Bugg but even on his album he has a small team of songwriters who get co-writing credits on a number of his songs. Indeed, many of todays top International artists rely on a huge team of songwriters for their hits.

alternatively they might just believe it, and why not just say what you think? I mean if we did a survey probably about 98% of the adult population are of the opinion 1D are terrible , it's not an unusual thing to say
and as has been said on this thread they're rich and famous so why should they care about this......unless

I'm all for people saying what they think rather than being sycophantic, which is, at least in my opinion, undeniably worse than being disrespectful. However his comments seemed a bit too keen on bashing them, and when you start presuming out loud how people think about themselves and their work they are bound to feel compelled to either agree or disagree. It seems to me that his intention was more to provoke than to give a reasonable opinion.

I guess folks were reacting to the comment from the biggest Union J fan on DS, defending him, when, lets be honest Jake Bugg is never going to have anything favourable to say about them as well.

I don't really see why Arty and indeed you have bought UJ into the discussion on Jake and 1D an are quoting me - unless it's a dig on me on the fact that I started and discuss UJ in the Appreciation Thread - if so then it seems rather petty to be honest.

Keep up! They were both boybands on the XF, they both sang pop songs on the show... and one of them has hair a bit like Harry (cos Harry was the first boy EVER to have curly hair)... and, uh, um... they're all male. So of course they're a TOTAL rip off.

B) how have I been defending Jake Bugg aside from stating that the line 'chinny chin chin' is awful.
C) yes I do like Jake Bugg's music, however again just how have I been defending him in a big way?
It feels very petty and quite catty that you and Arty seemed to be picking on people just for their tastes and are resorting to putting 1 band down in order to defend another.

Not really - there was no real reason to mention UJ in anything - its just pettiness on behalf of 1D fans... but anyone onwards and upwards to a different thread + nicer people
