Much as I dont like either Frank or Elvis, their influence is unmistakable over generations of music fans. 1D's influence over music appears to be limited given that the only award given to them on Wednesday was the Brit equivalent to a marketing award.

Exactly and yet forum members on this thread congregate here every year on this forum for X Factor which is a glorified Karaoke contest and follow their own favourite singers covering other peoples songs which in many cases were written by teams of songwriters. You couldnt make it up.

Now that's really lame...
Harry will probably be too classy to say something (Which I like about him), but really? Did Jake need some exposure and decide to go get papped at Harry's B-day without realizing that he would slag him off in a couple of days?

marketing award? more like prosumer award in honour of those FANS who actually managed to break this 3rd placed UK XF act to PHENOMENAL GLOBAL SUCCESS thru the social media...

you can market and hype and promote til you're black and blue but without an audience, would be for nought... the rise of these boys is the rise of the fandom thru twitter, tumblr, youtube, peer-to-peer interaction and traffic of 1D content... which of course the management saw (who wouldn't?) and latched on to and harnessed... you can't underplay the actual place of the fans in this equation.

You young people kill me with your snobbery over music everyone was listening to the past. You don't deserve a cookie because you can name drop Debbie Harry.

Jake Bugg and his fans need to learn that a sad-faced WGWG with a Noel Gallagher haircut doesn't not equal talent. This child went in on Mumford and Sons too, you know. I don't give a f&*K about Mumford and Sons. He just hates on successful people and is looking for press.

Whether or not 1D hate themselves remains to be seen.

For the last time, no one thinks you're cool because you hate 1D. You hang out on the XF forums and root for people like Cher Lloyd, Union J and other flops not worth mentioning. You clearly aren't the bastion of good taste.”

I have now decided not to take this post seriously.....it isn't worth starting a rant over giving MY opinion on a subject I believe I have a right to comment on (whilst staying withn the boundaries of the forums policy guidelines). Hope you felt you got a lot off your chest after posting it too!!

it's because Frank's & Elvis's talent were their voices. Nobody's saying you have to be talented at everything, just something would be nice

It's easy to say that with hindsight though. Elvis had his detractors back in his day. Who knows what the future holds for One Direction.

I think Bugg's comments are just a case of 'I don't like it therefore it is terrible'.

You have to understand where Bugg is coming from, in one week he has slammed Mumford and Sons, Tom Odell and One Direction. It's just coincidental that it was also Brit awards week.

I did wonder if there might be a bit of the green-eyed monster in there too.

Why do you think that is? if they were ugly spotty teenagers they wouldn't be this popular at all, the fact that (they do nothing for me, but they are good looking boys) is what wins it for them, it's why they sell so many, it's the teenie girly's who buy their stuff, they are very easyier pleased, 1D will be popular now, untill the next boring same old boyband comes along.

he didn't actually slag of mumford & sons, in a discussion of artists backgrounds he described them as looking like posh farmers with banjo's (not inaccurately) and also added he liked them regardless. Plus it was weeks ago not this week.

The reason he slated 1D this week is probably cos like the rest of us he saw them parading their brand of terrible on TV this week so it's topical if you're going to be terrible in full view you have to expect the odd negative comment

anyway, back to the point, does anyone think 1D know they're terrible or not?

similarly, to paraphrase, not all un-ugly, un-spotty teenagers would be THIS popular at all...

there is something else in the mix that makes this particular group MAGIC.

Twitter is your friend, if you want an answer with regards to what 1D think about their music, tweet them.

Also Bugg never said anything about liking Mumford. His words were "They just look like posh farmers with banjos to me... but I don't have anything against anyone's background."
He would never admit to liking them, what would Liam Gallagher say?
If you don't believe this is all for publicity, well...what can I say.

"Of whether rock 'n' roll has lost touch with the working class, Bugg added: "Yeah, it's a shame, because times are hard. My mum was a single mum on the dole".

Seen here, front row at the Burberry London fashion week show.

Quizzed on being photographed at celebrity-filled parties, Bugg said: "I hate that s**t, though. Does. My. Head. In.

"I don't really know what they're after by papping me anyway. I'm just some lad who writes a few tunes, you know what I mean?"

Yet posing on the red carpet

Bottomline - dude is a hypocrite and has got most of you sussed.

Oh Joe and yet so many think Cher is terrible so I guess it is horses for courses. Me I like me Cher lloyds and 1D but you can stuff your singer songwriters with egos so huge they can't get their arses out of bed

Oh and in answer to your question NO I don't think they think they are terrible. They enjoy what they do and it shows (IMO!!)

I'm no fan of One Direction but Jake Bugg doesn't seem to engage his brain before he opens his mouth, he's already done it before with Leona and now 1D, he's had some decent success and now he comes across like he thinks he's the saviour of British music. I've listened to a few of his songs, not the full album mind and his songs are okay but nothing to write home about.

Maybe if Bugg had the talent his msuic would speak for itself so he wouldn't have to criticise others to get attention?

I'm not a One Direction fan by any stretch of the imagination but if you don't like someone in the music industry just switch off/turn over/ignore them. Don't mouth off to the press.

Are you serious??!?!?!?!?!?!

You don't think that you could pick up another 5 equally good looking, moderately good singers from around the country, and they wouldn't be this popular?

It baffles my head, that there are adults out there, who can't see 1D for what they are.

I admit, I am jealous as the next guy, I would do what they do in a flash, but...... the fact is, its all marketing etc.

Except he does that with EVERYONE. He's said rude things about Leona, Mumford and Sons and now 1D. Sorry but the guy's an arrogant chav. People say James needs a bath, Jake Bugg looks in desperate need of one and needs a hair grooming. He also needs to get a bit of talent. His music is very copycat.

Personally i dont like it when artists criticize other artists music or suggest its not good because music is a very personnel thing
Unfortunately in today's media driven society you have to get yourself noticed.. the music itself does not seem to be enough nowadays ...ID are all over the press mainly about their lovelife..maybe Jake bugg would rather have publicity from his opinions on music rather than who he is "with" ..but i do think he could do this without being critical...or could he??
