Think about it, the show viewing figure wise is probably where it was when she was on before its peak in the 2008-10 years.

However Cowell's attempt to keep young people interested in the show will backfire if they bring back the silly old lady who wasn't very good originally.

The young audience will tolerate one old person in Louis on the show but they will not remember Osbourne being on it before and more than likely have no idea who she is.

Its more than likely it will be another youngish female so the press can stoke the style wars than they like Minogue/Cole, Tulisa/Rowland and Tulisa/Nicole etc

I think the reason people think she's returning this year is because that's the impression the media are giving us.

I can't remember there being speculation about her returning in previous years? The speculation is usually about Dannii, Simon and Cheryl

Personally, I think XF attracts a mixed age group, not just young people. And perhaps he'll put a current male star on the panel?

But I don't know how I feel about Sharon returning to be honest. I admit, I liked her chemistry with Louis at judges houses last year and if it's true that Tulisa is going, then Louis is going to need someone to banter with.

I do think a lot of the Sharon returning is stirred by Louis

She's been seen at all sorts of events with Simon and Louis. She was also with Dermot on the Brits with Dermot asking Sharon about XF, and that cringe host even said that they are both a part of the XF. Why mention that when Sharon left so long ago and when there is no inkling of her returning? Seems suspicious...and nobody has speculated this happening in previous years anyway. There hasn't been evidence for it either.

She's no longer involved in any of Cowell's shows, it's clear they're not really friends but they've been hanging out and going for dinner and stuff like that lately..

She has worked continuously for Cowell since 2004, and was recently out socialising with him and Louis which AFAIK hasn't been a regular thing since the early days of X Factor. We know there will be places open on the panel and the collective feeling seems to be that there's not a new stand out candidate for the job. So people are looking back to what worked before.

With regards to the "young people" thing, The Osbourne's was wildly popular with young people. X Factor, with the 3 "old" judges had a young audience back in 2004. It's not like Mrs O isn't very famous anyway, people know who she is. And the target audience for X Factor is 16-34, it's not like they were born yesterday.

As for the ratings, it's true that the ratings soared in 2008 (and further in 2009, although much of that was due to the rescheduling of the results shows). And that's why people keep bringing up Cheryl Cole. But you can't write off Sharon's time on the show. The first episode had 4.9 million viewers. By the time she left that was up to 11.7m. So things went very well. She has also judged six seasons of America's Got Talent which has done really well for Syco.

They could be trying to look at public opinion by putting her on tv shows and out in public with them.

Also there is obviously public feeling that maybe the show should go "back to basics" and it hasn't yet been announced if they are going to make any changes to the format and feel of the show.

Perhaps people just want some more pantomime value on the show to detract from its current naffness.

This weeks specualation is all down to some carefully staged 'pap shots' and manipulating a presenting award with Dermot. Expect more where this came from in the coming months

Maybe she will replace Tulisa, if not her it'll be one of many one hit album wonders or someone (like Alesha who Simon once wanted for the show) who's no longer relevant in the music scene, but is decorative and harmless.

As for who might replace Gary, if he goes, I'm expecting a Westlifer, Shane maybe, who needs the money right now, or Mark Feehily, both are launching solo careers, so this will be right up their street.

Oh...

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...Australia.html

If the DM are right, then who on earth has Cowell got lined up for the UK XF? I know it's all 'sources say' so who knows if it's true, but I'm surprised he wants Sharon for XF Australia. I thought it was beginning to look very likely she'd be on the UK show. 'Sources' also say Mel B wanted to do XFUK but Cowell had other ideas...

??

I want Rowland too! Replacing Louis. Gary, Sharon, Nicole and Kelly would be great.

Damn those "sources" .. who could they be!

I can believe the Mel thing, i think that's true. I thought she made a great judge - but she isn't going to constantly create headlines and thats what they want in the UK version.

I also don't think she's one to be manipulated, wheras they even had Gary Barlow doing the staged "walk off in protest" shot complete with backstage acting. I was surprised at him but i think he probably has quite a sense of humour behind the scenes.
