4.2 for the S3 has just been leaked. Not sure when it'll be out officially.

Sounds like a lame update to be honest. It's a shame some of the existing features aren't improved like more apps supported by multi-window, even google listen or navigation doesn't support it, and with 5" screens it would be nice / useful.

When they start saying "improved ripple effect" on the homescreen you've got to ask.... really?

You are lying. I have just checked the HTC site and they say the latest firmware update is 2.3.
Root your phone, grab the Cyanogen 10.1 mod from the XDA developers site then get back to me, OK?

I've just updated to 4.1.2 instead, i'd never got round to it before.

I dont see why not, it was written by samsung to install roms.

Yeah its fine but you need to change the CSC using this to BTU to get the correct settings.

Once you install it you need to wipe the cache before booting up or it may run into issues.
