Just shows what a selfish and sometimes nasty character Phoebe was. Like in The Truth About London when she said to Monica, "Tell him who you really wanted to hook up with that night" in front of Chandler. There was no need for that

Another question I have,Was Susan & Carols wedding legal? As I didn't think you could have a gay wedding in America till recently? and it some places still can't?....Sorry I'm not that good on my American history of this kind of thing

I've started watching the series again and I still find Ross one of the most annoying tv characters I've seen...bugs the hell out of me

When Phoebe decided she was going to Vegas with Monica and Chandler when its their anniversary.
And pretty much ruined it by telling Chandler that Monica had met Richard for lunch. Biatch.

I always felt that Rachel and Phoebe were very jealous of Monica and Chandler's relationship (proven when they decided to recruit Joey and Ross as their back-ups). They couldn't be outwardly nasty to Monica, so they were horrible to Chandler. I hated the scene when Chandler was leaving for Tulsa, was trying to have an emotional goodbye with his wife and Phoebe just shoved him out of the front door. They ended up having to say goodbye to each other in the hallway!

I hated that bit too. So nasty and she didn't even care she did it. The Phoebe in Season 1 would never do that to Monica OR Chandler

It's funny, Monica and Chandler's relationship made so much sense but it brought out the worst in the Friends except for Joey and Ross.

Monica and Chandler didn't care at all about what Ross was going through with Emily as long as they got their shag and let Joey be humiliated in order to keep their secret . Chandler was a bit dismissive towards the girls too scoffing at Rachel for being naive believing Monica was cleaing his room and when Phoebe annoyed Monica and she said they weren't friends anymore Chandler didn't even question it (although at that stage I dont blame him)
Phoebe and Rachel as has been mentioned were jealous either because they liked having Monica as their downtrodden faithful friend or maybe because Chandler didn't choose them! Neither of them had a relationship of note in the series before Chandler and Monica apart from Rachel and Ross and even for all the hysteria and hype they were only officially together for a year!! They nevet got engaged or lived together or had anything *serious*.

It felt like the show revolved around the great Ross & Rachel will they won't they big love affair but as you say they were only 'officially' together for a year and never lived together or were engaged in that time. Yes they had a child together but that was only after a one night stand I think 6 years after they split up. In fact I'm not sure what the purpose of making Ross the father of Emma served. As has already been mentioned, he never even introduced Emma to Ben (not even a mention that they may have met off screen). The only good thing about Ross getting Rachel pregnant was the 'who came onto whom' episode with the video tape.

Not really as they arranged it as an anniversary trip. I wouldn't be happy if someone decided they were tagging along on my anniversary.
Yeah but they wasn't going to be alone as they were meeting up with Joey, so at least she would have him and wouldn't have to tag along with Chandler and Monica for company.

I love that episode!
Although a little mini gripe, why did Rachel think the story would work on Ross, if he hadn't known what she was up to surely he would've known she'd never gone hiking in Barcelona before

Watching one at the moment and its not a gripe but I thought it was a bit mean. When Chandler and Monica are moving in and they tell Rachel, what's the big deal with Racehl living there too? It's a two bedroom flat! And she's friendly with them both.

beginning of a new relationship, moving in together is kinda a big deal so I can understand why they asked her to move out - I dont think its because they didnt want her there, I think it was probably because they just wanted it to be the 2 of them, you know, 2's company, 3's a crowd

I always wondered why phoebe was part of the close group when she seems to be a bit of a bitch

she is very Conceited, frequently answering "i know" to compliments.

she insults the friends quite a bit.called monica high maintenence and rachel a walkover.

she mugged ross and tried to cut monica out of her life.

she is moody

she tried to ruin monicas restaraunt

she almost split up channdler and monica by stupidly telling chandler about richard on the plane.she puts her foot in it,breaking peoples confidences quite a bit

she lent money to monica and was asking for it back the next day.id be pissed at that.

she stabbed a cop

shes a vegan that eats meat, she hates big corporations but works for one.

chandler and joey got her jobs but she acted like a moron.

she throws many hissy fits and is ery inconsistant with her behaviour.

obviously, she has some great traits too,but she always kinda annoyed me.
You're singing from the same hymn sheet as mine, Chloe!! She was just vile towards the end....and the rest of the gang just seemed to accept her personal insults towards them!!!!

A gripe with Friends is that Joey and Phoebe would not be a have friends in reality, especially the later seasons.

Phoebe went from a slightly annoying hippy (can deal with that), to a complete bitch, strong in her beliefs but contradicts them constantly, selfish, when she upsets someone or puts her foot in, she doesn't care.

Instances are her telling Chandler that Monica had lunch with Richard, and putting Monica in the situation of having to reveal who she originally wanted to hook up with in London. In reality, she would be looking for some new friends.

As for Joey, he went from stupid with a good heart, but cable of some childlike wisdom. Too becoming so stupid, he would not be able to function at all in real life!

I always found that they turned Phobie into a bitch as a sort of plot device to spill everyone else's secrets and lies to cause rows and disagreements within in group ( and so Chandler can be all sickly when him and Monica make up) because they couldn't think of any other way for them to find out

I think you're right, but they could've done it by having her be more goofy than bitchy. Or if they were going with bitchy then have it be Rachel doing the bitching because it was more suited to her character originally

In London, Joey turns on the TV and hears the theme tune to Cheers and is reminded of home but wasn't Cheers set in Boston, not New York?

Now I think about it, its completely bizzare

Another gripe is that bizzare secret closet storyline, that closet was never mentioned before or after that episode
I don't think this was all that bizarre. It was explained during the episode when Chandler asked what was inside it. Monica had deliberately kept it locked and not mentioned it - because it was her secret junk stash, that she was ashamed of. I think Chandler respected her wishes that it should be hers and hers alone so there was no need to discuss further.

In Joey's mind, America = Home.

Plus he probably also meant it reminded him of watching Cheers back home too.

Yep, and later he told Chandler that he wanted to go home, to where everybody knew his name. It was that line in the Cheers song that made him do his sad face!

I don't think the back up husband story was out of jealousy, it was just that neither Rachel or Phoebe wanted to end up alone

The episode with Phoebe and her mink coat is irritating, she completely contradicted her beliefs

A new old gripe for me griping thread!

When Joey builds the big cabinet that blocks part of Chandler's door snd Chandler tries to pudh it Joey says "oh I forgot that sides still wet"
But we had just witnessed Chandler helping to push up the cabinet while holding on to the same side.
Dun dun DUN!

Ok, not a gripe as such, but I always felt friends was a bit obsessed with incest. Hear me out...

joey tricks Monica into a double date that she thinks are brother and sister. When they get frisky joey asks her if she ever got 'rambunctious with Ross'

Joey asks Ross if he'd rather kiss Rachel or Monica

The guy that Rachel dated (Danny) who showered with his sister

Monica's first kiss ever was Ross

To quell mike and phoebes lust for each other Monica told them to talk about her and Ross 'doing it'

Etc

Yea they liked to hammer that one home alright,
Monica showing Ross the underwear and him suggesting the red one was another.

Then there 's Chandler picturing his mother while getting off which subsequently happened to Ross then.

The closet was mentioned in the looking-for-their-Christmas-presents episode because one of them says they will look in there.

In a video of the London episodes I have there is an extra bit with Joey and Fergie that I wish they had left in, when he comes onto her.

I didn't like the fact that Rachel's pregnancy was revealed at Monica and Chandler's wedding after the whole stealing-of-thunder thing when they got engaged.

I never liked Rachel much, she was such a selfish cow and Phoebe was just plain nasty by the end.

Also, I didn't dislike Mike, but I loved David, I hated them bringing him back just so he could get dumped :'(
