Phoebe when she was annoyed at Rachel because Rachel didn't want to have sex with a random guy that Phoebe brought to her apartment.
But it was okay, he was a virgin! And he was really looking forward to it

When Joey says to Rachel "Remember when you had a crush on me when you first met me?" and then she nods. But Rachel actually never showed this in the first series (when Moncia introduced her to him and Phoebe). Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe she didn't have a crush on him until Season 9? She also had a crush on him in the "What could have been" episode" But apart from that, I don't remember Rachel having a crush on him in the first few series.
Wasn't it Rachel who said 'I even had a crush on you when I first met you' and Joey says that Monica had told him? We never actually saw it though.

Sorry for the multiple posts, I can't multi-quote on my mobile

I may have said this gripe already but watching one of the episodes with Bruce Willis the other day reminded me of it. Women in the audience get so excited by a big (usually male) name making an appearance that, in his first scene particularly, they'll laugh excessively at all his funny lines, like giggling schoolgirls The Brad Pitt episode was the worst for this.

Oh and that reminds me of how we were expected to find it funny that Brad's character Will hated Rachel. Oh, it's so hilariously ironic because they're in fact married in real life. Ha bleedin' ha.

I thought it odd that they could afford their apartments in Manhattan, Ross was perhaps the only one in a reasonably paid job.

Chadler mentioned in the last ever episode that because of rent control (metioned in the post above), the apartment was "a friggin steal"

I was just watching The One That Could Have Been Part 1 on Comedy Central, and I must say that Phoebe is pretty unlikeable in that episode

My only gripe with Friends was that Phoebe ditched David for Mike.

It didn't make any sense to me. David was her returning love interest throughout all series, it always seemed fate they'd end up together (when I got over wanting her to end up with Joey) I really liked Mike but I felt they did Her love for David a disservice, wish she'd ended up with him as their scenes were always so emotional.

I've probably already contributed (I can't be bothered to read 22 pages just to find one post ) so I may be repeating myself, but my main gripes were:

- Ross and Rachel. I liked them as characters individually (especially Rachel), but their "will they, won't they" relationship bored me. I just didn't care, I really didn't.

- Joey. He was fine half of the time, but he was really annoying the other half. I just feel they tried to make him too funny, too the point of being ridiculous. One example that springs to mind was Phoebe pretending to be a pigeon, cue Joey looking around surprised, as if he actually believed a pigeon was speaking to them. I found the reactions of the others MUCH funnier, the "What the **** is she doing" looks on their faces.

One thing that bothered me was when Ross started dating his student, everyone including Monica were slagging him about it, but Monica seemed to forget sleeping with that guy from high school, which i thought was much worse.

To be fair Monica didn't know how young Young Ethan was and broke up with him as soon as she found out. And she was 26.

Ross was mid-30s and knew how old Elizabeth was. Plus they were only taking the mick in a friendly way. When Ross asked them seriously what they thought Monica was nice about Elizabeth.

But when Rachel dated Josh - I think that was his name, though not Joshua (Joshwah) - who was really young, Ross was the only one who made fun of them. But then again maybe the others didn't bother because they could see Rachel was only seeing him to make Ross jealous.

Ok, not a gripe as such, but I always felt friends was a bit obsessed with incest. Hear me out...

joey tricks Monica into a double date that she thinks are brother and sister. When they get frisky joey asks her if she ever got 'rambunctious with Ross'

Joey asks Ross if he'd rather kiss Rachel or Monica

The guy that Rachel dated (Danny) who showered with his sister

Monica's first kiss ever was Ross

To quell mike and phoebes lust for each other Monica told them to talk about her and Ross 'doing it'

Etc
I always thought Ross and Monica were a bit too touchy feely.............especially when they would "fight" and he would straddle her and pin her to the ground.

Yes! Or he'd massage her shoulders and stuff, like a boyfriend would. If my brother tried that he'd get a slap!

I must have missed that! I often wondered this whilst the show was running, thanks.

I preferred Mike though. Phoebe and her annoying wackyness would have got a lot worse with David, who is also wacky. Mike was relatively straight, so they balanced each other out a bit.

One thing that annoyed me slightly last night on the ep I watched - Rachel walked in on Monica (presumably) lying naked on her bed, waiting for Chandler, when someone knocks on the door of the apartment. Monica panics thinking it's Chandler, but it's Joey and Ross having been thrown out of the cinema because Ross is on the phone to a relative of Emily's.

Why the hell did they knock? The door is always unlocked and they all have keys. If they thought maybe someone was out why didn't they go straight to Joey and Chandler's? Why did Monica assume Chandler would knock when none of them ever do, and she was waiting for him in her bedroom?

Which then made me think about when Jill visits Rachel and she knocks on the door - Phoebe counts the group to check no one was missing, why would she assume that one of them would knock?
Then I remembered the episode where Monica reviews Alessandro's and Alessandro comes to have it out with her and she won't let him in the building by not buzzing him in with the intercom. If the building uses an intercom how did Jill even get in?

Young siblings would do stuff like that but they grow out of it. Monica and Ross however, because they are both so competitive, never progressed past it as they both wanted to be the winner in every situation - if it was in competition with each other or just in general.

Examples would be Monica going into a lake just to fish out a cruddy Troll doll aka The Geller Cup after their dad threw it away, Chandler trying to appease Monica by giving her the ''Best Bad Massages'' award, Ross going naked with Ugly Naked Guy just to win the apartment etc.

Watch closely! I'll give you one example, but there are more...the episode in Season 1 when she breaks up with Alan - Ross says 'rough day?' and she says 'like you can't imagine' (or words to that effect. Then he gives her a shoulder massage! As Friends would say...ewwwwwww

Actually I'm just watching The One With The Video and Rachel and Ross are flanked by their friends for details of the baby's conception. With Monica being the most vocal " When did it happen and how many times did it happen!?" She excitedly asks. She might as well have asked for positions!!

I mean COME ON I know Rach is her bestie but she really wants the details of their one nighter!?
I'm good friends with my Sister In Law but no way would she ask me that kind of thing

I can understand her wondering what in the world led to them sleeping together out of the blue but the line of questioning was just perverted.

Edit: it gets worse when they all protest at Rachel's attempt to destroy the tape and she asks "you don't really want to see this do you?!" MONICA is the most vocal in answering "HELL YEAH!!!"
And then Phoebe clarifies they don't want to see the sex part. But oh my Monica comes across as a right freak in that scene
