Surely someone who offered Monica a job and was high at the interview would be memorable for Rachel?!

Was it supposed to be the same character? Bit part actors tend to get reused a lot in the same shows.
Did Rachel even meet the stoned guy? As for whether or not Rachel should remember him - she met him once, for a few hours at most, and while he was acting fairly erratically (what with being stoned), she was off to the side with Phoebe for most of the evening. She had very little direct interaction with him that we saw. Add in the fact that Rachel had shown herself to have a fairly patchy memory - like forgetting Emma's age - and no, I certainly wouldn't expect her to remember Steve from one meeting 8 years previously. |

Ah, that shortened spelling of 'blo' never occurred to me. Although it wouldn't have made sense if Chandler were to get one from Monica, I could only think of 'rim'!

I think it's totally in character for Rachel not to remember Steve. She forgot Chandler (although obviously in the first ep/flashback she was supposed to have never met him). She forgot Brad Pitt's character. In TO That Could Have Been she didn't recognise Ross. I know it wasn't a real episode in terms of storyline but it was in character. She even forgot Tag's surname. I think she was always just quite self-involved, as Ross said 'in Rachel land, doing your Rachel thing', and doesn't notice much around her. Phoebe, similarly, is kind of in her own world, so I don't think it's unlikely for her not to remember Frank Jr and the condom. She might have remembered the incident but not what the guy looked like as she only saw him for a few seconds. Plus, just because it's the same actor it doesn't mean it's the same character. Quote:
On a similar note - and also lowering the tone:

I've read other people's opinions that what they never do is anal sex, but I think that's a bit rude for Friends. For me, 'never' suggests something they used to do but don't any more, and I don't see Monica ever being up for that. So I'm not really sure.

"Never" makes me think it's something that was suggested by maybe Chandler and Monica refused.

Jon Lovitz is a little bit more than a bit-part actor
![]() ![]() If they'd responded it was a well known actor making a cameo as the same character twice then it would have answered my question. |

When Phoebe mugged people she was a child who was homeless, she needed what little money she could get to buy food and survive.
When she found the thumb she was an adult with a home and a job. While she might have liked the money she didn't need it. Plus it was a large sum of money, whereas Ross and other 'pre-teen comic book nerds' would have probably had only a few dollars on them. Re. the lying, she is capable of lying, but chooses not to (though she obviously has thoughout the ten series). The 'next week: stealing' line was most likely intended as a joke, like she's teaching Joey immoral acts. One thing that always confuses me is their ages. Monica and Rachel are the same age as they were friends at school in some of the same classes. Rachel is the youngest because she is the last one to turn 30. Ross is two or three years older than Monica, and therefore Rachel too. Chandler and Ross are the same age because they were at college together. Joey is at least older than Chandler (and thefore Monica and Rachel) because in TOW They All Turn Thirty he says 'And now Chandler!' after he freaked out at turning thirty on his own birthday. Phoebe was 14 when she became homeless, and mugged Ross when he was 12 at the oldest (did he ever say what age he was?), so she could have been anything from 14 to 16. But in the Thirty episode she finds out she's a year older than she thought she was. So she must be at least three years older than Ross. But in series one Monica is 26, but in series three Ross is 29, when he should be 30-31. Although when Friends was first written Monica was supposed to be older than Ross, so that could explain that. |

Monica and Chandler really annoyed me in Emma's first birthday episode,I thought the way they acted was very bad and if I was Rachel or Ross I would have kicked them out.

I hated the way Rachel's dad had a go at Ross for not marrying Rachel, had he forgotten about their bonding over teasing Rachel?! |

Yeah they were awful in that episode, but Ross and Rachel were never going to kick them out as they are Emma's aunt and uncle

Yes, when Rachel's dad finds out that Ross isn't marrying Rachel he storms into Ross's apartment while he is with Mona and has a go at him

But why is it a gripe? Because they joked about Rachel seeing someone about one of her legs being shorter than the other at one time?

As far as he was aware he'd knocked Rachel up but they weren't staying together and he was with Mona IIRC. That would come across dodgy to me. ![]() I mean obviously the fact it wasn't easily explainable was done for comic effect but I'd imagine a lot of fathers would have some kind of bone to pick with that one.

I have one! It's actually something that I've seen variants of on a few TV shows, but Friends have a really silly one.
In series 4, Chandler reunited with Janice but later regrets it and to get out of their relationship tells her that he's moving to Yemen so she insists on going to the airport with him. When he gets there, he attempts to buy a "fake ticket" to Yemen, but ends up having to pay for a real one. He then attempts to ditch her, but she insists on sticking around until she sees his plane take off. The woman on the tanoy then announces "last call for Yemen" and Chandler reluctantly boards the plane leaving Janice behind and has to go to Yemen. The problem? You can't just walk onto a plane - you have to go through security and then show your flight ticket to get into the departure lounge. Unless Janice was able to slip past security, there should have been absolutely no reason for Chandler to actually board a 16 hour flight to Yemen because he could have just hung out in the departure lounge until the plane and then Janice both left, then slipped out himself shortly afterwards. Further to that, he had no reason to pay $2000 to go to Yemen. If he was really that desperate to get away from her, why didn't he buy a cheaper flight to somewhere nearby? He'd still be out of pocket, but not $2000 out of pocket. ![]() To be fair, in the Last One, I think Phoebe actually tells Ross to buy a ticket so he can get through to stop Rachel, so they obviously learned their lesson. Still though, it's something that I've seen in loads of TV shows, and every time it bugs me!

The comedic effect wouldn't have been the same had he paid for a low priced ticket to the shortest destination and he just waited in the lounge for Janice to leave then just strolled out. I think if it had been some hard hitting gritty realistic to the core drama then yes it just wouldn't make any sense and would be quite annoying gripe |
