I thought David was only in one episode the first time around?

Not so much as a gripe, but more of puzzlement or perhaps a deliberate goof?

Monica always wears her watch if worn, on her left hand but in the 'one with all the thanksgivings' when as the new super slim Monica playing it cool and about to de-toe Chandler, she wears it on her right hand.

He was before he went to Minsk which may or may not have been in Russia.

Doesn't surprise me if he put no effort in, didn't he guest star for free? Or at least donated his fee or something because he lost a bet with Matthew Perry.

He did seem very flat, but basically redeemed himself with the Mirror I'm a Love Machine scene. That's the stuff Emmys are made of apparently

yea It was all very rushed and then he was never mentioned again until Phoebe met him randomly one day years later and over the next few years they tried to make into this "love of her life" story for Phoebe.

Not a gripe but an observation, does anyone else think Monica kind of lost the run of herself towards the end of the series?
She was kind of the mother hen of the group who would talk people (Rachel mostly) out of doing stupid things but then did stuff like the cousins wedding where she went when she wasnt invited , bitchy and spiteful and just wanting to cause a scene (more like something early Rachel would do) . That episode does contain one of my favourite lines though "Monica stop saying blood to strangers!!"
Another example is lying to Erica over the adoption. I know she was distressed and worried about not getting a baby but it was very out of character for Monica to think they would really get away with it.

Megan blackmails Monica by booking their band ... But how would that work actually, she would've had to pay them a deposit, and how long would she have actually held it for anyway? Monica could've called the band and explained the situation and then they would've demanded a deposit from both of them and if Megan was stubborn enough to go through with it she'd have looked bloody stupid with the band turning up to no wedding!!

One I've always had, which happens in most sitcoms anyway, is the way that the characters barely react to big events that happens to another character, if they're not involved in each other's storylines that week aside from a brief passing. An example might make what I'm saying clearer:

*Ross has his teeth whitened to extreme levels*
*Ross is talking to Monica and Chandler in their apartment*
*Rachel enters the apartment*
Rachel: Your teeth? Yeah I saw them from outside!
*Ross leaves*

It always bugs me that Rachel doesn't actually ask Monica what the hell happened, as you would do in real life. Though I guess, with time constraints and flow, it's understandable.

Asks Monica about what? Ross's teeth?

Got muddled up with Rachel seeing Ross' tan in the apartment.

But yeah, wouldn't Rachel ask Monica what Ross did to his teeth? It is afterall a very strange scenario that you wouldn't just ignore with a throwaway comment.

EDIT: Also, that was just a general example.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned but I've just spotted it today.
In "TOW Ross Moves In" Rachel is trying to get noticed by the new neighbour guy and says she can't go to his party because she has a "Regatta Gala". He says "Do you sail?" She, embarrassed, replies "No, but I support it".
As we have seen in other episodes not only does she sail but she knows enough to teach Joey to sail!

I haven't read the whole thread but I see the one that came to my mind was mentioned on the first page. The birthdays! Seriously, Ross has at least 4. Phoebe has 2 at least. How hard is it to keep track of when their birthdays are? If we can do it surely the writers can.

I personally think that having watched it last night, The One with The Memorial Service was the best episode of the last 3 seasons. Anyone else agree with that view?

I find both Monica and Phoebe unlikeable in their story in that episode

The one with Ross' leather pants (or the New Years resolutions or something).

Rachel finds out about Monica and Chandler, but when she confronts Joey about it, and they both find out that the other knows, they're jumping and screaming about it. Just a few seconds earlier, everyone's in the apartment; Monica and chandler go off it 'do laundry', phoebe goes off to find a plane lying around, but Ross, when all the shouting and screaming is going on, it's kissing Ben goodnight, IN RACHELS ROOM!

How soundproof is that bedroom door, provided he even shut it?

Actually, soundproof doors has annoyed me a few times, but it's usually the front door, not a bedroom door.

I just find it annoying that, in the later seasons, all the characters became caricatures of themselves, especially Joey and Monica.

Joey went from someone lacking general knowledge to being really dumb, Monica became a pedantic bunny boiler, Ross became really camp, Phoebe seemed to have Asperger syndrome and Chandler reached the point where everything coming out of his mouth was sarcasm.

The only one that really has any positive character development was Rachael who went from a spoiled airhead to a mother. Even the, she was quite self-obsessed.

I wonder if Phoebes "room mate" Denise was ever real?

That was a funny moment! I imagine that Denise was real (in the context of the show) and that this was a jokey dig by the writers about how some shows suddenly bring in old friends and relatives who've never been mentioned before.

One thing I've never got is why when Ross & Rachel first have sex at ross' work they are in some presentation room,so why would they go from that rather private room and end up in a public display where everyone can see them?

I watched this episode today. I don't know if this line is just exclusive to the Region 1 boxsets, but towards the end of it Joey says "Do bears s**t in the woods?" Very surprised to hear that word used in a Friends episode! (and I've seen the episode before, but obviously forgotten that it's there)

In the episode where Chandler and Monica first meet with Erica, I'm pretty sure (although correct me if I'm wrong) that Monica and Chandler are shown a scan of the baby. I seem to remember Monica saying "Is that the baby?", taking the scan from Erica and showing chandler by saying "Look, Doctor" (because of the mix up, Erica thought Chandler was a doctor and Monica was a reverend) but then when Erica gives birth it comes as a shock that its twins.

I love how annoyed she got every time.
