The whole shark porn episode is awful.
The shark porn story itself is simply ridiculous. I know it is done for the sake of comedy, but surely it would be obvious to most that the channel was changed from the regular porn. The whole notion of Monica trying to understand is just insane. Geller is at his douchiest at this point, his stupid lies and interfering in Mike and Phoebe's relationship is just stupid. (Actually, he is probably not quite at the douche level he eventually reaches in the one where Ross is fine) The Joey story is equally pointless. So he slept with a girl who was the roommate of the other girl, so what? It's not even a story. |

I never got that either. In another episode, (the one with the childbirth video) Monica gets Chandler a porn video for Valentine's Day. So why does he go to the bother of changing channels if Monica's cool with him watching it?

The age thing was also a bit of a problem in Friends. None of the main characters actually had a consistent age. (E.g - Ross was 29 for 3 years. I believe in series 3, 4 and 5). It was sort of like they never actually knew who old they were.
This is also a totally shallow gripe but the whole "Ross doesn't like ice cream!" claim in the episode, TOW Chandler Doesn't Like Dogs was completely false as he is seen here eating ice cream in another episode. - http://monicageller.com/IMAGES/1017.jpg A very petty gripe I know, but it's another small inconsistent character trait. The same goes for Chandler claiming he has never cried before which was also pretty much false. |

Chandler isn't seeing crying which would fit in with the earlier episode story but then it is mentioned he cried his eyes out and when He mentions he hasn't cried like that in ages (something along those lines anyway) Monica says oh you cried yesterday. |

I've got one that annoyed me - when everyone found out Chandler's middle name was Muriel (can't remember the actual episode name). Ross went to meet Chandler at his office, and they both left without Chandler ever locking the door (I don't think he even shut it). Petty thing yes, but it annoyed me

The scene where Phoebe and Mike break up annoys me. Why did everyone else stay and watch?

Maybe Geller only ate that ice cream because Elizabeth paid for them and rather than offend her by rejecting it, he forced it down to avoid upsetting her.
Unlikely, but I always like to find a justification for stuff like this. |

When I originally watched Friends, I always thought the defining success that it was impossible to rank the characters, they were all pretty much on a par.
I am not sure why I am seeing things differently now, but it has become apparent from this thread, that I really find Ross Geller insufferable whilst watching reruns. His behaviour, especially in the latter seasons, is actually quite abnormal for an alleged professor. |

Got any examples of this?
Monica and the rest of the staff get onto the counter and dance to YMCA. Watch Jennifer Aniston in particular - no way is she pretending to laugh! |

I can't remember the name of the episode, but Monica got a job in a diner and in the end-credits scene the rest of the gang turn up and put money in the jukebox.

Little things that annoy me about the show, and most other US shows and movies really, is when all characters leave a house, the lights are still on and no-one seems to lock the door. They must feel very secure that they'll never be robbed and have a huge bank balance to pay their electricity bill! Sometimes it seems like the whole house is lit up and nobody is there.

The Friends Facebook page just posted a picture of the back closet in Monica's apartment from the one with Monica's closet (the one nearest to the bathroom) Why did they never re-visit her sloppiness? Or was that just to show everyone what was in the closet?

But it was strange to include it and not expand on it |
