There are a couple of plot holes regarding Chandler which really annoy me! The episode where he can't cry, and the one where doesn't like dogs, or the one where he can't smile in the wedding photo. Each of these were totally out of character to previous and future episodes.

Plus of course, Chandler and Rachel not recognising each other in the pilot despite meeting many times in the past!

Yes the 'when did Chandler & Rachel first meet' thing has been brought up before and is bad continuity. As you say they met for the first time supposedly in the pilot episode after Rachel bailed from her wedding. They also 'first' met: -

When the coffee shop was originally a bar and Rachel wanted one last fling before she got married and Chandler threw the pool ball towards her feet

In 1987 when Rachel came round to the Gellers for dinner on the same evening that Chandler called Monica fat

At a college party (I think either in 1987 or 88) where Chandler kisses Rachel but she was so drunk she didn't remember it

I hate that Chandler was the reason Monica lost so much weight.

Did anyone realise Richard was only in six episodes of season 2? It felt like he was in the show forever

He called her fat in the thanksgiving flashback episode, So she lost weight for the next years thanksgiving to teach him a lesson

I think the poster means one of the group should not have been the cruel reason she lost weight.

In the Thanksgiving flashback episode Monica has a crush on Chandler when she meets him first and then she overhears him say to Ross "your fat sister"
The next year he comes to Thanksgiving again and Monica is all thin and flaunting it and wanting to hurt him for calling her fat. Implies to me it was Chandlers comments that spurred her on to lose weight.

I don't like it because Monica's weight was always a running joke and there was never a big deal made of why or how she lost it. Also that Monica and Chandlers friendship was always rock solid the fact that he was the reason she changed never came up before doesn't sit right with me.

I agree. In total he only appeared in 10 episodes. Looking back, I would have estimated at least double that amount.

Oh I see now, thank you (and the other poster). I thought perhaps you meant she got really thin after they hooked up or something - or rather Courtney did! She was horribly skinny at the time of Ross's wedding. In the bridesmaids dress she looks like a bag of bones.

Anyway, maybe over the course of time she just didn't think as much of it and was glad in a way that he had called her fat (and it wasn't even to her face), otherwise her health would have suffered in the long term.

Indeed, no doubt he forgot how big she previously was. Also, remember she wouldn't have wanted to call him out on the name-calling because it was due to her antics (learning the art of seduction by using a tea-towel, carrots, a box of mac n cheese and a knife) that caused him to lose the tip of his toe. I think sometimes things are "better left unsaid"..!!

I've thought that about a few story arcs in this show. It felt like most lasted longer, like Ross and Emily, Janice and Chandler in season 3 etc. I was surprised when I realised they weren't really in it all that long.

Also Eddie the crazy guy who lives with chandler, is the same actor who plays the father of Gina's son in the second series of "Joey"

I don't think we heard anything about his family beyond the first couple of seasons outside of the episode when his pregnant youngest sister asks Rachel for advice.

He mentions his sisters being pregnant to Rachel saying he'd seen and heard it all over the years.
In another one he mentions hes going to his nieces christening.
Im not too familiar with Joey the series or Gina and her sons backstory but would I be right in thinking she must've been quite young having him?
If that's the case then why would his (seemingly) much younger sister be so worried about telling him about her pregnancy? Or maybe that's why..
Either way i think it would've made more sense for that character to be his niece not his sister as the sisters all seemed close in age - although if Joey is the oldest then there's potentially 7-8 years between him and the youngest ?

I think a lot of this is to do with repeats, 2 episodes a day make a series pass in a few days. When in real time it was weeks and months of episodes

I always think they overused the Janice popping into Chandlers life story, But in reality there was probably 18 months or 2 years between some of them but watching repeats it obviously isn't as long and she seems to be there all the time

The theme song! Well the one line in the song "It hasn't been your day, your week, your month or even your year". That is backwards! Of course it wouldn't fit if it was "your year, your month, your week or even your day" but it still irritates me everytime I hear it.

Honestly that's the only thing that genuinely bothers me on any level about Friends. Everything else which has been mentioned I either find amusing or there's a brief passing annoyance lol, but that line in the theme song grates so much. Though I guess it's not exactly a Friends gripe?

Otherwise, I don't like the way the characters changed after around season 5. Especially Monica. Still doesn't bother me as much as that line, but I don't enjoy watching the later seasons as much as the earlier ones.

Was it me or was there another version of Ross playing bagpipes and at the end instead of Monica and Chandler telling him no Ross says "You know the song?" Or was that a blooper that i saw?

He says it halfway through "You know the song? Sing along" and then Phoebe starts squealing.
