I LOVED Friends and I still do but there are a few gripes...

As a lot of posters have said, Joey's IQ dropping to almost zero as the show progressed wound me up. He would need a full time carer if that were true.

The biggest issue I have, is the almost constant bad camerawork. In many, many scenes you can see the edge of the set and the hallway or you can see people's legs in the background - in one scene, I think it was the episode where Chandler and Ross are being bullied by the two blokes in Central Perk and Chandler steals his hat back, you see the crash mat behind the sofa...

If I/we can spot it from one or two views, why didn't the director pick up on it before he yelled cut?!

Monica became an obnoxious, interfering and annoying little fairy liquid freak. I hated the way she interferes with Phoebe, David and Mike, not allowing Phoebe herself to make that decision but it ended up being on the spot.

Joey becoming teeth shatteringly stupid in later seasons

Ross becoming whiny and acting like an ignorant and jealous bitch.

Phoebe's father and birth mother being forgotten after single episodes, not addressed or mentioned in the wedding episode either.

Only one appearance from Joey's mother. Such a shame.

Rachel and Ross were completely mismatched. In fact, Rachel worked so much better with guys such as Tag Jones, Mark from Bloomingdales and Gavin Mitchell. Ross worked better with Mona but he related her horribly and Charlie dumping him on the spot wasn't nice either

Brads Pitt's guest appearance was dreadful.

Monica and Richard were much better suited together. I never really liked her and Chandler but that's just me I suppose. I thought Chandler was much better with Kathy.

Gavin Mitchell had the potential to be another witty and fun character. Such a shame his time was shortlived.

I agree totally re her dad and birth mother, never mentioned again - why, so odd!

I may be repeating something I've already said in this thread but I reckon that she really did have a roomate named Denise (although she was only created for that episode, it wasn't in Phoebe's backstory all along) and that the writers were making fun of how some shows suddenly bring in characters' relatives and old friends who've previously never been mentioned.

I saw it as poking fun at the fact we rarely saw much of Phoebe's own life for a while outside of visiting Monica's and hanging with the group.

Last night the episode where Ross goes to Carols baby scan and he, Carol and Susan have an argument over the name of the child.

Carol and Susan wanted Willick-Bunch, Ross wanted Geller then Geller-Willick-Bunch which Susan didn't want as it would always be shortened to Geller so Ross get his way.

Of Course we know they call him Ben, was it ever mentioned what his surname actually was in the end? I must of seen every episode 10 times but for can't for the life of me think of any time it was mentioned.

Also regarding that it struck me as quite harsh for Carol to not include Ross in any part of the original planning of naming the baby at all, I know they were divorced but still he should surely of been consulted about it

It was never mentioned how the surname was arranged, They just moved on to arguing over the first name instead

And as for not including him, That does happen a lot in real life

It bugged me how interfering Susan was. Any normal person would back off when it comes to things like that, the baby wasn't hers.

All the stuff about Monica being fat annoyed me.
In hindsight 'Fat Monica' wasn't that fat. She was chubby but hardly obese. I hated the way they acted like she was really unfit and ate all the time. All the jokes about her eating a lot, and at one point she was worrying about her KitKates. Not all fatter people are greedy or unfit. And they all made such a big thing of it, like when Chandler told Ross (in flashback) he didn't want to be stuck with theb fat sister. Because Rachel was so skinny, it made Monica seem bigger, but she wasn't as grossly overweight as all the jokes made out through the entire series.

I think it was 'fat monica' compared to 'new monica' so to her group of friends there was a big (No pun) difference in her sizes

To the average person looking in, Not so much

In the flashbacks she looked different as "fat Monica" all the time... the first time we saw her in TOW Prom Video, she doesn't look that big, but then in TO that Could have Been she was bigger, and I can understand the "fat" there, but in Prom Video, she was just large, not exactly obese.

Just watching The One Where Ross Got High on comedy central and when Jack tells Monica "We kind of figured about the porch swing" you can see right off the edge of the set behind him.

I agree with that. The way they talk about her breaking things, having to have clothes made especially etc, you would expect her to be Big Loser sized fat but , when they show her in flashbacks, she's a big girl but hardly someone you'd have to do a double take to if you passed her by. I'd say she looks about a UK size 18/20.
What also makes me laugh as that for someone that has had a weight problem, we often see her eating tubs of ice cream, cakes, biscuits, pizza etc. Surely someone who had lost so much weight and kept it off would be far more careful about their diet? Though the same goes for all of the girls. As if they'd spend their time drinking lattes and chomping down muffins every day

When Joeys fridge breaks, he eats everything in it.

why doe he have so much food in it when he's always eating out of Monicas.
plus why doesn't he just put the food in her fridge?

The whole 'broken fridge' storyline annoys me.

He goes around telling the others to give him $400, I know it was meant to be funny but it wasn't written well.

Chandlers line of 'That was still in there' would suggest a big build up of food over time

I never got the point of the fridge storyline, It never got concluded

Obviously he needs a fridge but as you say, Some of it could have went to Monicas temporarily though

Yea and I think he says something like "I bought you the best one coz its not sonewhere you want to cut corners so it was 112 dollars - but lets just call it an even 110!"
So I gave her a whole 2 dollars after running down her battery!

Clutching at straws but a couple of minor gripes in The One with the Breast Milk, which is just finishing on Comedy Central.

When Ross goes to try the breast milk but backs out, after finding out Susan has tasting it, why does he storm off in a huff into Monica's bedroom?

At the end, when Joey and the Hombre Cowboy face off, the store is just opening and then the Hombre Guy sprays a guy in the eye, so Joey wins the girl played by Emily Proctor and they go for coffee. Surely though if the store has only just opened, it would be far too soon to be taking a coffee break.

That one is just pathetic, childish, jealous Ross. He can't/won't do it so he storms off in a huff

Yeah, I get that, but why does he head into Monica's room. I mean I guess it's just because he was on that side of the room and he had to go somewhere and in all reality nobody expected this level of over analysis 20 years on. Just seems a bit random.

I was watching an episode the other day from around series 8 and I'm fairly sure I saw the hideous picture of Gladys that Phoebe gave to Monica in a later series (when she moved in with Mike) hanging on the wall of Monica and Chandler's apartment, right next to the door!
