A very, very petty gripe:

In numerous scenes, whenever a character (or more likely an actor) leaves either Monica or Joey's apartments, they leave the wrong way i.e. not the way where the stairs are.

Granted, there might be a second set of stairs or an elevator but in ten years we never see them arrive that way.

Laziness on the actors' part and laziness on the director's part to not simply say "remember to head for the stairs, people!"

Told you it was petty.

There could just be a one way system in the building to be fair

In the Dollhouse episode. Ross bursts in on Monica in the shower and she says something about a foot massager

Yea Ross says "sorry for bursting in on you" and Monica says "it's ok but by the way I was just checking the massager" or something to that effect

OK..I may be in the minority, but I think the last say 6 seasons are the funniest?, anyone else?
I found season 2 very funny. The episodes where Eddie moves in with Chandler are some of my all time favourite, and I also love the episode where Chandler dates the girl who leaves the answerphone message for someone else. There's also the Julie/Ross stuff too.

It's funny how I now watch episodes looking for little titbits to add to this thread.

A few minor gripes, in TOW the lesbian wedding, Rachel's mother makes some kind of comment to Monica that implies the last time she saw Monica, she was still fat. While there is no absolute proof this isn't true, it seems unlikely since we saw from the Thanksgiving flashback episode later on that Monica and Rachel were still close friends after Monica got thin, so it would also seem likely Rachel's Mom would have seen Thin Monica before the two friends drifted apart.

In the episode where Mike and Phoebe have got back together but Mike still has a date with Precious, I find it odd that Precious refers to Phoebe as 'Phoebe as in the love of Mike's life Phoebe' once introduced to her. Why on earth would Mike be so candid in telling a current girlfriend about an ex in that way.

You'd be amazed how many people go on dates and talk about an ex or that girl they like. As she was apparently the love of Mikes life it makes sense he would talk about her

Me and some pals discussed this lately and we have all been on dates with girls/guys who spent the whole time talking about an ex

Simon in the inbetweeners movie comes to mind!

It's possible that Mikes friends told precious either.. Not that we saw much of his friends apart from that one guy

During the credits sequence of series two - I think - there was an image of a scared Chandler jumping in to Joey's arms. I spent ages looking for that scene as it looked really funny, but it did not happen! The teases!

The clip seen in the opening credits where Joey jumps into Chandler's arms was never aired in an episode and is presumed to be deleted footage from the episode 2x12 The One After the Superbowl Part 1, where they try to hide from Joey's stalker, Erica (played by Brooke Shields).

Chandler and Ross fighting over a joke was a lame story. Of course Chandler came up with the joke as he is the "funny one"

Joey working at Central Perk was an odd and irrelevant storyline. Especially the scene between Joey and Gunther when Joey quit

Agreed that the joke storyline was lame.

I quite liked the episode when Joey was working in the coffee house and giving away free muffins to hot chicks and was told freebies could only be given to people who had a birthday that day, so he started pretending all the hot girls had their birthday. I especially liked when Gunther told him he was no longer authorised to distribute birthday muffins.

In the one at the beach, at the start of the episode Chandler and Monica are sitting outside Central Perk. This is the only episode that there is outside seating (admittedly it was summer though) but still odd. In another episode Phoebe is told off for taking a coffee outside

Good spot. There is not much room for outside seating outside Central Perk anyway due to the fact that any table will take up all the pavement and anyone walking from the left of Central Perk (or the right as we're looking at it) to walk around the bend past the doors to the other side will end up walking straight into the table/seating area because of where it's positioned.

I am a MASSIVE Friends fan and still watch them on a loop, but the one thing that always annoys me is how Chandler is introduced to Rachel in 'The Pilot' when Rachel runs in wearing her wedding gown, yet later in the series it's discovered they all knew one another at college and that they spent Thanksgiving together, and that at college Chandler and Rachel had 'made out' at a party.

Yes the lack of continuity and inconsistent timelines and back story are quite annoying, although I suppose we gave to understand why they would suspend reality for the sake of humour at times.

Another total lack of continuity is that in the one when Monica and Chandler go out for dinner with her parents when they first get engaged and Jack tells Chandler how he married because he got her pregnant and Judy says 'your dog thought my diaphragm was a chew toy'. Yet in a later episode Ross states that he was a miracle baby and they thought his Mum was barren.

I mean come on - sometimes it felt like the writers barely knew their own characters!

Yea but I think the point is with the "the doctors thought she was barren" story it implies Jack and Judy were trying to have a baby for some time - enough to get medical advice at least - which doesn't tally With a shotgun wedding because she accidently got pregnant after they stopped using protection

So did Chandler spend his savings on the big wedding... I know Monica was meant to buy the dress off the rack but they had the venue and the band and honeymoon

Thanks - that was my point exactly! Those episodes were quite close together too

Probably. Shame really if he backed down, as Phoebe indicated he'd finally seemed to develop a back bone.
Actually you have to wonder what Phoebe's problem with him was 'So, what do you guys really think of Chandler?' Was it just his overly sarcastic humour?

Chandler gets an awful bashing in the later episodes from Rachel and Phoebe in particular.

He was supposed to be the last one of the group to get married*, And not only did he beat them too it but his marriage was a pretty good one with very little real drama, Maybe they spite him for it

* I mean properly married, Phoebe, Rachel and Ross had already been 'Married' i know, But Chandlers worked pretty well where Rachel and Phoebe failed
