One thing about that episode that has always seemed odd to me is when Ross and Monica do the Routine and the director guy sees this and tells them they are going onto the top platform and to do it exactly like that again, but he then yells and cut thats a wrap Thanks everybody

Why did he tell them to go on the platform and do it again if he knew that was the end?

It's annoying. I can only remember 4 episodes they interact with in a bigger storyline.

1. Rachel sets him up with Joanna (S3)
2. Chandler sets her up with his work lot (S4)
3. Cheesecake (S7)
4. Not wanting to pass on Joeys lipstick for men ad to his advertising work lot (S10)

In the Routine episode Chandler helps Rachel and Phoebe to search for presents. But that's a rare story with either character

Just watching the one after Vegas on Comedy Central, when they are at breakfast phoebe talks about how drunk she is then she's driving the cab and has been for the past 6 hours.

Also really annoys me in that episode how Ross refuses to get the annulment!

I don't think Phoebe was actually drunk. I think she just said that as an excuse for saying something silly.

But she was drinking champagne cocktails..and she said she was drunk, and she was allowed to be because she was on vacation. That was before she blamed her saying something silly on being drunk.

I don't know if anyone's mentioned it, but one that annoys me is is when Phoebe is getting married and Monica is her wedding planner (and maid of honour?). Phoebe is sitting with Rachel and her phone rings and she says "It's my wedding planner, she's driving me crazy", then during the call Monica walks in and it's clear she's the wedding planner.

I know it's to make it a surprise that she's talking about Monica, but there's no way she would refer to her as 'my wedding planner' to Rachel, she'd just say it's Monica. It would make far more sense if she said something like "Wedding planning. She's driving me crazy," or if she were talking to someone who didn't personally know Monica.

I think Phoebe was being sarcastic

Sometimes he is, sometimes he isn't - for example with Bamboozle, The Fort and the Apartment Quiz. In fact in general he just really likes games and puzzles. In the Bamboozle episode Chandler was initially very sneery and cynical about it whereas Ross took it deadly serious from the start.

The evolution and lottery things are a bit different because they antagonised him as a man of science.

Ross was winning in Bamboozled so that's why

Considering that it was originally Phoebe's apartment, I find it odd that Rachel would buy an apocotheray table without Phoebe's permission. Also when Rachel tells Ross that Phoebe hates Pottery Barn he says that it's because she's a twin. I find this odd as Phoebe being a twin isn't really mentioned except when Ursula appears

Not a gripe as such but a personal opinion is that the whole 'Ross's rage' story didn't really suit the character. Really seemed like leftover material from Seinfeld. It's interesting that Jason Alexander appeared in one episode basically playing George Costanza...

I think considering what Ross went through (3 divorces) it did fit the character

While I see the similarities between Ross and George, I don't think it was leftover material from Seinfeld

As I've said before, if comparing Friends characters to Seinfeld characters it goes;

Ross - George
Chandler - Jerry
Joey - Kramer

Thoughts on Ross and Elizabeth? I think it's a bit weird, especially when Ross tags along on Spring Break Woohoo! Though that is a great scene at the end of that episode. Will let you know when I get to the Bruce Willis episodes

As said before, Joey acts very out of character by trying to make everyone else pay for his fridge

He also advised and comforted her when her parents split up.

Plus there were several multi character storylines they were both involved in such as Thanksgivings, Hootie and the Blowfish, The Lottery, London, Las Vegas, The Apartment swap and so on.

I think the point is that this group stayed together for so long, and shared so many experiences, that even the "less close" ones formed bonds of comradeship and shared identity.

That's been discussed before. Monica would have also known Mindy as they were both friends with Rachel and Richard would have known them as Richard knew both Rachel and Monica when they were young so would have known Mindy. Also Richard would have been Monica's +1

i dont remember her referring to mindy as her friend-mindy was friends with rachel but monica never mentions her

I actually think Monica was Richard's +1, my thinking being that Richard might have mixed circles with Barry's family given both he and Barry were in the medical profession in the same area.

In fairness, it does seem a bit odd, but I am happy to believe the above scenario, because ultimately they just needed a plot contrivance to have Monica and Richard at the wedding so they could have the heartbreaking break up within the wedding surroundings.

would make more sense paul-or richard even knew mindys family like he knew monicas and rachels

It always kind of bothered me the way they all treated Janice.

So, she had an annoying laugh, but the way the Friends behaved towards her you'd think she was totally evil, whereas in fact she was quite a warm, intelligent, funny person.

They threw her out of the apartment when she was in extreme distress, at the same time lying to keep her out of the wedding.

They also dished out the persona non-grata treatment to other perfectly inoffensive, well meaning characters such as The Fake English Lady, the Pot Smoking Restaurant Guy and Chandler's Boss.

I can see why all those characters were disliked by the gang, all had bad personality traits. Especially Stifler's mom

Agreed, Stifler's Mom was an awful character and it is no wonder they wanted to avoid her, she had no self awareness and crossed social boundaries in my opinion.

Pot Guy was a complete douche, aside from the obvious of turning up high, his behaviour as a result of being high was nothing short of disgraceful, a complete clown.

I hated Doug's boss, in fairness he was probably OK but just really annoying. I always hated the comment he made when Chandler pretends he has split up with Monica, he says something stupid like how there was no love between M&C, but she looked at him with pure lust. Talk about deluded.

In fairness, Janice probably does get treated a bit unfairly. Granted she is annoying, with the OMG and the voice and laugh, but she is quite sweet at times. In the hospital, she is nice to Rachel, giving her advice about raising a child whose father is not in a relationship with the mother and after initial teasing, she is quite nice to Chandler with advice when they bump into her at the fertility clinic.

They were all a bit annoying, yes, but well meaning enough.

The Friends all had annoying traits as well.

When Rachel wants Bruce Willis to open up she claims to know nothing about him. But the fact that his wife and Elizabeth's mum had died was completely ignored in that episode

and then she cant cope when he breaks down

it seems like she starts alot of things she cant finish
