One thing that for a while has struck me odd was Chandler and his career. Now when we first meet Chandler he has his office job and eventually he quits and begins a career in advertising. My issue is, that we know Chandler went to college with Ross so we know Chandler has a college education. Did we ever learn what Chandler studied because it seems to look like Chandler simply finished college, moved to the city and took up his office job.

I might be wrong here, but it seems a little strange that Chandler would go through college just to wind up working in an office for almost 10 years.

I love each friend equally and can forgive each of them for little things but I cannot stand Monica in The one with Phoebes wedding. She ruins the whole episode for me. We all know she's controlling and organised but she's borderline total bit**. Phoebe's whole wedding is falling apart around her due to her controlling behaviour and Monica sits back smirking filing her nails. The only gripe I have.

The girls laugh when Ross says that he could kick Chandler's ads in his older brother talk. But in the Halloween party Monica says that Ross would beat Chandler in a fight (though to be fair Joey says that both are probably equally weak)

Much as the writing got appalling for Joey's stupidity, it became equally awful for Monica's controlling behaviour. They took it too far, lost any idea of realism and therefore lost the comedy. There are some episodes from the last series I do not re-watch. Learning French and Phoebe's Wedding are two examples.

Why does that seem weird? Most people go on to work in an office job after finishing college...

I guess because he just never seemed to pursue a career in whatever field he studied back in college. I think I can even recall an episode where he referred to the fact that his office job was only temporary, but he'd been there ages.

I have many gripes towards Carol, but I'm tired now so I'll save them for another day.

Ah, that shortened spelling of 'blo' never occurred to me. Although it wouldn't have made sense if Chandler were to get one from Monica, I could only think of 'rim'! Apologies for dramatically lowering the tone of the thread! Carry on...
Or:

Bee
Jay

Childish I know.

We know that Chandler did mime at college from the episode where he tries to get Joey an audition with his director friend

Yes but not "that" stupid.
One example of Joey's increased stupidity was in Season 9 when Joey is talking to Chandler & Monica about wanting to invest his money into something and he said his friend had an emu farm. He then says he can help to plant the emus to which Monica's response is "Emu's are birds, you raise them for meat"

Joey's response is something along the lines of "Yeh right like people eat birds. Like you would go into a restaurant and say 'I'll have a plate of bird or maybe just a wing...........'" (then the penny drops).

Nobody is that thick

Did anyone manage to get tickets today for Comedy Central UK's FriendsFest Happing in Brick Lane in September?

Looking back, Marcel the monkey was a farcical idea and really doesn't fit the image of the Friends we know reflecting back on the whole 10 seasons as a collective.

Also, that storyline where Monica befriends the woman who steals her credit card is pretty poor and unrealistic.

I like both storylines. It was season 1 so the characters weren't quite established yet

In Barbados Joey asks "what kind of person doesn't own a tv?" and seems surprised that neither Ross or Charlie have a tv. But surely Joey would have been in their apartments enough to know that

I thought the TV comment was aimed at a lady who was a 'fan' of Ross. She came up to them looking for an autograph, Joey being a 'star' assumed it was from him, but she wanted an autograph from Ross. Joey tried to explain he was on TV and it was she who said she didn't own one, prompting Joey to say 'then what is all your furniture pointed at'

They absolutely never said that - either of them. It was only the 'fan' Sarah.

There's tonnes of references to Ross having a tv.

Watching programmes on the Discovery Channel (jellyfish sting episode and one 'about bees').

Not long after he moves into his new apartment he's pretending to do 'stuff' at the window so that the rest of them can see from Monica's, includinge watching tv, pointing his remote control at the screen - when in fact his tv is off.

Watching the movie with Phoebe and Rachel where he had to put a sheet over the new Pottery Barn apothecary table.

Watching Die Hard with Joey and Chandler.

Those episodes are earlier I realise but he still never ever said he didn't have a tv.

He said in the Barbados episode that his tv had broken

When Emma is born Jack claims that she is his first grandchild, forgetting about Ben. Jack and Judy never had any scenes with Ben and clearly didn't see much of him

When Chandler is moving to Tulsa Monica says that she always works late on a Tuesday. This doesn't make sense as she had already quit Allesandro's and hadn't started at Javu yet so was technically unemployed at the time
Yes but when Ross said "err hello, Ben?!" Jack realised his mistake and tried to correct himself by saying "I know. Ben. I meant my first grandDAUGHTER." trying to cover it up but indeed there was never any interaction.

Had she quit Allesandro's? I know all the staff tried to make her quit hence her bringing in Joey as the fake waiter she could 'fire' to show her authority but that was all.
