Now, I don't know how auditioning works if you are an actor, but the whole thing with Joey who is expected to audition for Days of Our Lives again was a bit annoying.

Does that happen in real life? I find it odd to believe that if someone leaves a show, a soap lets say for example, why would they choose to cast someone completely different if the previous actor wanted to go back?

I understand if the person leaves of their own accord and then the producers want to bring the character back, but if the previous actor wants to play the role again, why would they not choose that person? As Joey said "who looks more like me than me?". I also could understand if the DOOL producers were different and didn't know Joey, but Terry and Joey obviously had worked with each other before. So, I'm surprised Terry wanted him to audition again for HIS role!

It would annoy me as a viewer if someone on a TV show left, and then they bring back someone different if the previous person wanted to come back. Consistency and all.

Imagine if for the Joey series, they cast someone completely different but Matt Le Blanc wanted to do it? If I was Matt, I'd be furious.

It wasn't the exact same role though, the role was for Striker Ramoray, Drake's twin.

I can't recall whether it was explicitly stated whether Striker and Drake were meant to be identical twins. If not, it gives them the flexibility of casting Joey as an identical twin or another similar but not identical looking actor to play the role.

Pretty sure she wasn't even real
My interpretation (which I'm probably repeating myself posting, ha):

Denise really was Phoebe's roommate (although that was decided just for that episode, not in the writers' minds all along!) and the writers were poking fun at how sitcoms often have previously unheard of old friends, relatives etc get talked about and turn up out of the blue.

This does happen, I seem to remember an actress in neighbours auditioning to play the part again and actually losing out to someone else who they thought was a better option

Plus joey was fired so there would be no obligation to rehire him

On similar lines, Should Joey have been recognised more often? How famous was he meant to be?

While the majority of the Joey learning French episode is atrocious I think it is always worth a watch just for the end scene of him attempting to drink the gallon of milk. Yes he fails spectacularly but it still makes me laugh when I watch it.

Returned from FriendsFest earlier. Lots of original props and memorabilia at the exhibition. The attention to detail in the re-creation of Monica's apartment is totally spot on. Well done to the Comedy Central team for pulling this off. Loads of people were there today. (Though probably got their tickets from stubhub and paid a fortune when the original price like I paid was £5!)

Not a gripe, but I was wondering about something Phoebe said to (I think Ross) when he was leaving to go somewhere, Phoebe said "Where are you off to travelling Jake?".........Does anybody know that she meant by that? Is that just a random saying or a TV show or something?

I've googled but can't find anything.

seeing as its Phoebe I can only assuming she meant "travelling Joe" some people say that when others are off on their travels but as it was Phoebe she probably got muddled and said "travelling Jake"

Series three was number two wasn't it?
Noooooo! The first outright dog was on series threes run The One With The Jam. Also the whole Monica/Pete storyline which was really dull....

My only gripe is that Friends edit advert with the words, it's so poorly done.

Watching on Netflix earlier. Where the girls are packing up as Rachel is moving in with Phoebe. Ross states he can't help as he has Ben that night. Monica replies that its almost past his bed time, which leads to Ross ridiculously making a fake Ben incase Monica looked through the window. All Ross had to do if she looked over was to say Ben was asleep. I'm certain he would have a bedroom is Ross' apartment.

Did Ben often stay over at Ross's? He generally just came over for the day from what we saw but yes surely Ross had a spare bedroom for Ben to sleep in

Yep, Ross had a two bedroom apartment. Rachel lived with him for a while. As did Phoebe.
Plus, he has curtains. Why not just close them?

Mine has always been the whole Phoebe and David thing. I don't get it. How long were they together in S1? He went away on NYE but it seemed like they were madly in love. She even says before he leaves "Tell me you love me and you'll never forget me". Then when she spots him in S7, she says to Monica, "That's David" David that I was in love with..."

Now, I don't know about the time jump difference, but didn't they know each other for barely a week? In the scene when they met, the other friends were all talking about their pact about not having dates for NYE.

The fact they were discussing NYE dates and not Christmas makes me think that the scene was done AFTER Christmas. So between Boxing Day and NYE. That's 5 days max. I find it hard to believe that they became so madly in love for 5 days, enough so that 7 years later, Phoebe brings it up to Monica.

Must have been a hell of a 5 days.

The one where Ross bleaches his teeth - his date's total over-reaction always annoys me. "Oh my God is that your teeth!?? What's wrong with you!??"

Just thought of another one- when Rachel is telling Monica and Phoebe about her kiss with Ross, she's going into great detail about how his hands started off in her hair etc, Monica looks like she's about to reach orgasm. They're talking about her brother FFS!

So many examples of when Ross and Monica's relationship seemed incestuous. Ross claiming that Joey and Rachel going out would be even weirder than him and Monica was a particular low

After all the hype about Phoebe choosing Mike over David, I find it odd how little Mike appears in season 10. The wedding episode is nice but other than that he's barely in it
He's in 9/18 episodes.

A 'Joey' gripe.

Joey spent ALL of season 10 trying to stop Monica and Chandler moving and basically had a break down about Rachel leaving.

Yet, even though Rachel 'got off the place' and therefore three of his five friends and Mike were still in New York, he moved to L.A straight afterwards.
