And Rachel to a lesser extent. Were they both jealous that Monica was married while they weren't?

Joey and Ross never treated Monica like that

The most mature one of them all when it came to that, He explained he missed him and Chandlers alone time and only made Chandler promise to spend time with him when Chandler tried to hide the fact he was back from Oklahoma.

Absolutely. Joey was so nice about Ross and Charlie too even though they went behind his back (though that was maybe because he was with Rachel then)

Have read most of the thread - a gripe I haven't noticed mentioned regarding Joey becoming one of the gang...

In the TOW The Flashback he meets everyone for the first time and is supposed to be set a year before the start of the show - so some time in 1993.

In the TOW all the Thanksgivings, the turkey stuck on his head is captioned as being 1992 even though this just couldn't be possible based on the previous flashback.

Good spot! That Thanksgiving must have been 1993. Surprised Ross wasn't in that flashback though I guess he was still married to Carol at the time

Just thought of another glaring continuity error relating to that. Say we assume that the turkey incident was 1993 and put that to one side, am I right in thinking that when the Joey turkey incident happened that the clip seemed to imply Phoebe was living with Monica? Where as TOW Flashback had established she'd moved out Just before they met Joey.

Edit: just watched the turkey clip and Phoebe's Gladys picture can be seen hanging to the left of Chandler. This pretty much confirms they had Phoebe living with Monica in spite having established previously she had moved out before meeting Joey. There seem to be several errors created in TOW all the Thanksgivings.

When Monica and Chandler moved in together and Rachel HAD to move out, she was effectively homeless, and struggling to find an apartment. Now if a good friend of mine said that I could only move in with them if I agreed to Naked Days, then I would tell them to stop being an idiot and move my stuff in. I get that they wanted Rachel to be moving in with Ross, but the reason she didn't go to Joey's was just so flimsy, I wish they'd written a better reason.

I'm not confused about why Phoebe didn't ask Rachel to move in with her in the first place. As Phoebe clearly didn't have a roommate called Denise

I am more confused why Rachel had to either be homeless or move in with one of the others, Why was there no give in when she moved out? Was Monica so neurotic that no way could two others live in her apartment even for a couple of weeks to prevent her best friend being homeless?

They needed her out before Chandler moved in....Why though?

In the second last one with Rachel's going away party, Phoebe says something along the lines of getting her passport back in six months and she can travel internationally again.

How did she get to Barbados?

I thought Monica made a point of saying there wasn't any real rush, I don't think Monica would have kicked her out on the streets if she didn't have an alternative.

Option A - a glaring continuity error

Option B - it's just Phoebe being weird and saying random stuff

I assume it is A but I always like to think it is B.

Edit: I suppose there is a possible Option C, that she only had the the passport taken away after the Barbados trip, but that wasn't much before this. As it is Phoebe, I always assumed that if she really did have her passport taken from her, it would have related to her time on the streets many years ago.

To add further fuel to this, didn't Phoebe once refer to a time in Prague? Not sure when this was supposed to have been though.

Phoebe did but I think this would have been before the gang got together

I thought the point of this was that she did have a roommate called Denise & none of the other friends knew about her? Because didn't Phoebe at some point offer Rachel to move in as Denise would be away until December 26th, to which Rachel said "Ha, December 26th...maybe she's Santa Claus!"

Wasn't the whole point that there really was a Denise?

I think the Denise thing was purposely set up to make fans think does she or doesn't she exist, and we never find out.

Not a gripe from me really but every time I see that moment, I always think how something like this should of happened in the final episode. They all enter the coffee house and see the chairs taken, They'd smile, each friend would perhaps look at another then that would be it.

In one episode Joey says "But it hurts my Joey's Apple" while wearing a tie while another episode has Joey talking about "A woman with an Adam's Apple". Two Joey moments of stupidity on the same subject

Reminds me of one from Only Fools and Horses where Del says grandad used to make them salmonella and chips. Then in a later episode he can't pronounce it. Very annoying to the viewer but perhaps we watch the show more than the writers so remember these things better

Definitely annoying though

Haven't seen this episode for a while so not sure on the timeline but it must fit.

It is a Xmas episode when someone breaks the knob on the radiator at Monica's. She hosts a party and everyone is baking.

She gets Mr Treegor to look at it. He says he can fix it, but he can't get a replacement knob until the stores open again (remember this is around Xmas)

Later in the episode, Joey turns up and noticed the temperature. He tells Monica the knob is broken so he just switches it off from underneath.

My gripe here, is how a simpleton like Joey would think to do this, yet a building superintendent would not think to do so.

I'll answer that for you. Joey's dad was a Plummer, so Joey must have had knowledge in that area

Plus Mr Treegor didn't seem that intelligent himself

Did they at any point ask Treegor to turn off the heat? I can't remember, Or did they just ask him to source the part they needed?. Maybe it was literally a case of they never asked and he said he never felt the heat so never suggested turning it off

As for the Denise thing, I'm pretty sure Denise was real. That's the joke. 'How can you have a roommate none of us know about?'. It's just very Phoebe to be so odd and not bring up the fact she has one before.

I posted a gripe a while back but no one answered. It was regarding Joey being so much smarter than Phoebe regarding everything in TOW Phoebe hates PBS
