Anyone remember 'Mad About You' about a couple in New York?

There were a few crossovers between Friends, Seinfeld and Mad About You.

The husband (Paul Reiser) was Seinfeld's friend/neighbour and leased his "bachelor pad" to Kramer.

The wife (Helen Hunt) from this series appeared in an episode (of Friends) at Central Perk with a friend and tried to order drinks from Pheobe, mistaking her for Ursula, Pheobe's 'evil' twin, the nutty waitress in the couple's local bar/restaurant.

In TOW the Blackout (Friends) the blackout was caused by the wife in Mad about You.
Haha "that is brand new information!!!!" Actually didn't know know this, interesting. Thanks

I love the show but I find it unbelievable that the group would get the same table every time they go to Central Perk - I know in some episodes there is a reserved sign on the table but seriously!! Also how can they afford to drink so much coffee??

There was an episode where someone has their seat and they walk out again to go somewhere else.

But, it's a TV sitcom it's not supposed to be realistic.

They didn't seem to go drinking at bars or anything that often so money people would usually reserve for night's out they spent on coffee.

The biggest inconsistency for me was Joey, his career and his money. Being on a daytime soap you'd think he'd be away a lot of the time filming but he was barely ever there. And you'd think the money would allow him a better place to live.

But, as I say, it doesn't have to be realistic.

He did move out, but then got sacked and had to move back in.

By which time Chandler had moved out and after Janine had moved in and out then Rachel and Emma moved in, he's not going to move away from his best friend again. And we don't know what happened after the last episode. (I don't count Joey)

He doesn't have to "move away". Ross got a decent apartment in the other building.

Well why would he move blocks? He likes living there with Rachel and the baby.

Oooo good to see the gripe fire is still going
Anyway, this occurred to me the other day... I know we've discussed Joey speaking French, but surely his "identical hand twin" was waaaaaay sillier?
Still love his little song though

In other gripery:
Ross dresses up as a Sailor for Rachel and they discuss fantasies. He tells her about his fantasy of Princess Leia which she finds weird but agreed to do anyway. Sadly he pictures his mum when he sees her.

Anyway, a few seasons later Monica is talking to Rachel about Chandler watching shark porn and Rachel says she went out with "a guy" who wanted to pretend she was a naughty cave girl he dug up. Monica guesses correctly she means Ross. So it looks like they gave the old role playing another try at some point

He should have moved to a whole other state - Days of our Lives is shot in LA!

Ages were poor.

Rachel and Monica were the same age. Monica states in season 2 that she is 27 yet Rachel doesn't turn 30 until season 7.

Really, Monica and Rachel would've been 36, Chandler and Ross 37-38 when the show ended.
There's a load of times the ages are wrong - there are references to them being in high school in 1988, but for them to be the ages they claim to be in the 'current day' they would have been 19/20 years old in 1988 - not high school age

I may have missed the point, but how exactly is this a gripe?

I always found it a bit weird how Monicas Mum 'hated' her. They had a son first, so you would have thought that Monica would have been a much wanted daughter. The disdain with which her Mother treated her but not Ross was a bit puzzling

Ah I suppose its not really a gripe, I just think they could used the Princess Leia example instead of coming up with another. It would've been a nice nod to the earlier series

Ah you've never heard of "Irish Mammies"! (I know Ross's mum is Jewish lol) Son is worshipped and daughters not. Tis not uncommon at all

My only gripe is that it ended. Could have lasted for another five years easily.

Nah, Friends didn't do stuff like that. Shows like How I met your Mother do well with continuity, with Friends I often suspected that they had too many writers. It had a Simpsons-like way of just forgetting what had happened previously!

I think it's because Ross was such a suck up and "straight A's" type of kid that Monica struggled to match up to those expectations.

I always wondered why phoebe was part of the close group when she seems to be a bit of a bitch

she is very Conceited, frequently answering "i know" to compliments.

she insults the friends quite a bit.called monica high maintenence and rachel a walkover.

she mugged ross and tried to cut monica out of her life.

she is moody

she tried to ruin monicas restaraunt

she almost split up channdler and monica by stupidly telling chandler about richard on the plane.she puts her foot in it,breaking peoples confidences quite a bit

she lent money to monica and was asking for it back the next day.id be pissed at that.

she stabbed a cop

shes a vegan that eats meat, she hates big corporations but works for one.

chandler and joey got her jobs but she acted like a moron.

she throws many hissy fits and is ery inconsistant with her behaviour.

obviously, she has some great traits too,but she always kinda annoyed me.
Really good post.

Phoebe annoys me too, because of most of the things you listed.

Also I hate how she emascultes and is constantly nasty to Chandler and Ross.

Phoebe was a bitch.

Ross has a pet monkey in one of the early series and keeping an animal like that would pretty much destroy your flat. You certainly couldn't be houseproud.

Then in a later series he is put off a girl because of her messy apartment and hamster on the loose.
