I could go on and on about the wonderful virtues of dogs. Our labrador is now over 14 years old and has been pure joy.
Oh and he doesn't poo all over everyone else's garden and allowed to roam the streets.
Dogs are just awesome.”
I agree you cannot compare cats and dogs - because they are so different. I love both and have had both co-habit happily and concurrently in my childhood home where, I have to say, the cat definitely was master over the dog
I don't agree that cats love anyone who feeds them, I would say that is more true of dogs than cats. I also like that you have to work hard to earn a cat's love, I don't want to be slavishly adored and worshipped without a proper worthwhile reason. I actually admire cats' hedonism and their selfishness in putting their own needs over their owners, they're traits I don't possess and would despise in a human being but I find endearing in cats

I love the cat versus dog diaries analogy which floats the net. It always makes me laugh and, for those who have not read it, it does not put the cat in a good light, rather as very scheming and ungrateful compared to the dog's rather simplistic approach to pleasure in everything it does.
Anyway, both pets have their advantages in terms of fitting in with their owners' lifestyles and it suits me currently to have cats because I can leave them for long periods while I'm at work and they don't need walking etc. My parents also have given up on dogs and now just have a cat so that they have more freedom and flexibility.
I'm sure I'll eventually acquire a dog again, perhaps when my personal circumstances change, but I cannot imagine never having cats. I just love them.
