007 Game
I tire of looking at the "only buy" FPS shooter being Call of Duty.
But there seems to be nothing else out there, nothing seems to have gripped me since Goldeneye on the Nintendo 64 and that is no word of a lie. But dear God the recent 007 releases have been shocking and upon watching Skyfall yesterday, I really do wish they would take their time and bring out a title that would be proud to call itself a James Bond game. But can we expect a Skyfall release? If not some sort of James Bond game in the future? I know Activision released a statement saying they won't be, but surely another developer can pick up the licence and start making games? Nobody should let this franchise die like this... |

I think the recent 007 Legends was the Skyfall tie in. The GoldenEye remake/reboot wasn't too bad. I prefered it to Quantum of Solace.

The shadow of 'Goldeneye' looms large over the bond gaming franchise.
There have been very few attempts at changing that mould, even upto the last few games. Everything or Nothing IMO is the best Bond Game, great action pieces, an original story and all done in third person. The problem with the last few FPS Bond games is they did not have their own identity, they were for all purposes, Call of Duty clones, especially 007 Legends, as soon as I was activating a 'breach' section and killing enemies in slow motion I just considered the game a Call of Duty entry. It definitely needs to take a few years off, given to a new publisher and new developers and allowed to create its own take on what a stealth/action game should be. I think Blood Stone hit a great combination of combat and vehicle sections that flowed really smoothly and felt kinetic, that is the sort of thing it should be aiming for, rather than just falling into the cookie cutter COD model that it has been shoehorned into. |

Didn't think the Goldeneye remake was that bad thought is worth a play through.

I quite liked the Goldeneye Remake, It wasn't as good as the original N64 game but I enjoyed playing through it. Don't think it has any replay value though.
I played 007 legends recently & thought it was awful although I though Bloodstone was pretty good & actually may replay that at some point. Going back about 10yrs, I had Nightfire for my Gamecube & that was a pretty good game Probably my 2nd favorite Bond game after Goldeneye. The PC version of Nightfire is different to the console version apparently, Not played that version though. Goldeneye was/is so great because it had a good story, A campaign that was well put together, gameplay that was both simple yet a ton of fun & the fact you unlocked stuff on each level & had extra missions to unlock by completing it on each difficulty level gave you reason to go back & replay it many times. Also of course the split-screen Multiplayer was a ton of fun. I can go back & play Goldeneye again today & still love it just as much as I did when it was new, Same can't be said for a lot of other games from the past 10-15yrs. |

Agree about replay values once the campaign is over not much else.

Personally... I quite enjoyed the goldeneye remakes (had the Wii & 360 versions) whereas I thought 007 legends made aliens colonial marines look like a GOTY canadiate.
