After being brought up on irish, country and western (through my parents) and soul and pop (through sisters and radio). One day i heard Phantom of the Opera by Iron Maiden http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqLAdbtfJbs

It made the hairs on the back or my neck stand up, up until then i never knew such music or bands existed and it totally changed my taste in music.

Has anyone else had such a revelation, doesn't have to be the same type of music i have mentioned.

I used to spend a lot time with my Auntie and she used to listen to soul music and the song that attracted me to explore it more was Sex Machine by James Brown.

I was never a music fan when a teenage splod thinking I new it all but in fact only new where I had left my football. Music was that sound the radio had when not doing news or weather. Then I heard, just by chance, some music that seemed to grab my ears and shoved itself down into my then empty brain. I remember missing what it was or who it was so for ages I had to ask and being told by all that they had no idea so about a month later it was on the radio again and this time I heard that it was: "Candle Of Life" by The Moody Blues and I bought my first long playing record which to this day (I have the cd now) is the track I listen to that bit more as it started me loving music in most of it's forms.

XTM - Fly on the Wings of Love was the first 'dance' track I really liked after previously just sticking to conventional pop, although listening back it falls more into the Europop category now. Then a year later I heard 'Out of Space' by The Prodigy and fell in love with early 90s rave over a decade after it was fashionable
