Anybody keeping their PS3 when buying PS4?
Just my humble opinion, but I think 3D graphics have got to a stage where they will never look dated, a bit like 2D gaming at the 16-bit era (Amiga, SNES) which still stand up well.
For this reason I will be keeping my PS3 when upgrading instead of going to CEX like normal! I have quite a variety of games which I think will always look good. Whilst I know the PS4 will improve on them, I don't think it's like the jump from PS2 to PS3 |

I've still got my PS2's so I see no reason to get rid of my PS3.

In fact, looking at some of the PS3 games coming out this year I may not even buy the PS4 at launch

Not having full backward compatibility OPTION I believe to be a major weakness!
Maybe a pricier machine with optional features such as this. More rear USB Ports. Memory card slot or easy system to use older tech with machine. |

Definitely, yes, if only as an iPlayer/Netflix box for the bedroom.
Unfortunately I didn't hold too much value in keeping my consoles when I was a kid, but I do still have my PS1 and bricked PS2 + PhatPS3. |

Yeah will keep my ps3. After a while when more ps4 games come out I will move it to another room for a spare blu ray player. I still got my ps1 still works but my big ps2 got broken down years ago sadly.

It's a given.
I'm not messing about playing streamed games with Sonys limp BC, a PS3 is essential going forward into the next gen. Sad but true. |

As it stands I doubt I'll get a PS4 (only use my PS3 as a Blu-Ray/Love-Film player at the moment), the announcement for it was distinctly meh... the need to show some exclusive games that look fantastic to get me to think about. So I'll be keeping the PS3 as it stands right now.
I felt the same about the Wii U (originally I was undecided on getting one), but the previews of NSMBU just about did enough to get me excited enough about the console to buy it. Problem is I don't think Sony really has any franchises like that to win me over as my interest in gaming has waned over the years... I only got interested in NSMBU because it shared a lot of features with Super Mario World which I loved as a kid. I think the normal seller of new systems is graphics and the visual leap from generation to generation has been getting less and less and at this point it just isn't that big to generate excitement so the games need to pick up the slack... My 2 cents anyway... |

My PS3 has become a bit of a joke in our house. It will be going. Traded against a PS4 probably or Xbox if MS actually produce something worth buying.

Only console I ever got rid of was my master system.
I still regret it now. If nothing else I'll keep the PS3 as a media centre. |

I certainly won't be getting rid of my PS3 any time soon, would lose more than I could get for it anyway, since it has the PS+ subscription right up to September 2015 (I always buy an extra year when they do 25% off the year subscription, works out great value) and already has literally hundreds of games (From PS store) on it.
Plus whilst there are still loads of games on my PS3 I haven't played yet and am interested in playing, I don't think any of the PS4 launch games will be that exciting. I'm sure it will be a top console and am impressed with the spec but new consoles always take a while to really get going, I'll probably buy it a few years after it comes out when it has some triple A games to warrant the expense. In the meantime I'm more than happy to enjoy my PS3 and 360 and if I really need a taste of next gen graphics I do have a very decent PC too. |

I'll keep mine as usual, I also still have my PS1 and PS2. Both the original models (the PS1 has the extra ports on the back etc before they removed them).
I still have a SNES for Mario Kart but my Master System and Amiga 500+ I gave away to my cousins around the PSX era. |

Wonder how the Playstation + service will pan out? Will they stop if for PS3 then I have lost all the games I've downloaded?
