Why are all your favourites 'Kings'?

I don't think there is a lot to choose between Matt, Gareth & Beth when it comes to straightforward skating skills. But Matt brings personality and performance to his routines, which the other 2 can't match.

Maybe because he's the actor?

Even if you think he's the best this series I struggle to see how he's the best by a mile. In all honesty there isn't too much difference in ability between the top 3 IMO.

For the first time ever I am quite torn as to who I want to win. In previous years I have always had a clear favourite or not been fussed about any of the contenders (series 5).

Beth & Gareth have been my favourites from the start - a few weeks ago Beth was creeping ahead but Gareth has really come on in recent weeks & Beth has been hindered I feel by the routines she's been given - too many tricks & not enough skating which she's more than capable of.

I'd honestly be happy with either Beth or Gareth winning at this stage - it will make a nice change for a sportsperson to win as well rather than yet another soap star.

Sam was indeed bottom 2 once but Laura & Chloe were also bottom 2 at least once as well. Beth has so far avoided this & the last 2 weeks she has been in a precarious position on the leaderboard which suggests her vote is solid. If she avoids the bottom 2 again this week I will be very surprised if she doesn't go on & win.

Sorry but that is not how he is coming across IMO. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt as the first articles I read on him he was coming across as totally up himself and with a major attitude i.e EE was wrong for letting him go and he was going to do stuff no one else has done on DOI basically because he was the best etc and knowing how reliable the media is I was prepared to see how he came across in the show however he has not really done anything to dispel that image.

The sulking the week after he was in the skate off was a major factor in confirming the attitude, Gareth was in the skate off and came back and got on with it IMO it seemed that Matt thought he was untouchable and how dare the public not vote for him and now the judges seem to be confirming this status he is coming across cocky again and his extremely OTT reaction to getting through each week is extremely off putting. I get he is excited but his reaction especially this week is a bit much and personally I find it a tad disrespectful to the others still waiting to find out the result.

Beth, Gareth and Matt can all skate but I don't like Matt's erratic/squat/hunched/hockey style of skating

Quite possibly & I'm pleased that after being in the skate off early on he has since avoided it.

It will be interesting to see who is there with Luke this week (can't see him avoiding it). I have a feeling it will be one of the boys not sure who but would prefer it to be Matt.

I wonder how much the Dan fanbase is helping Beth

I think Beth has plenty of support in her own right - am not a massve fan of Dan's personally but it doesn't stop me liking Beth.

I am not a fan of Dan either - I think he has won it twice anyway, and I am not a great fan of Brianne either - she is on her second ringer her with Matt- would be nice to see a new pro win - and Robyn is a lovely skater

Footygirl why on earth is it even relevant how many times a pro has won the show or not that makes no difference as to whether they should win again or not as the show is meant to be about the celeb not the pro skater so it is irrelevant if the pro they have been paired with has won before or not. The pro skater IIRC doesn't even usually get read out when the winner is announced its usually just the celebs name.

There has been plenty of favouritism shown to certain pros over the years not just Dan although it does appear it is only him that you have a major issue with although I concede you have mentioned Brianne in your post but I'm reckoning they tried to favour Matt and perhaps Maria this year but that backfired somewhat

Beth has a massive fanbase in her own right she has over 63,000 followers on twitter which is considerable more than Dan has and from what I gather is extremely well thought of within the gymnastics world.

Pro fanbase didn't exactly save Pamela Anderson did it and Matt Evers has a massive fanbase of his own. Same as it didn't stop Maria from going earlyish this year. I hate the whole so and so should get a duff because they got someone good last year that is also prevelant on the SCD threads.

Ice skating is not as simple as just pairing people up and hoping for the best and sometimes expectations of a celeb are not met. Keith was expected to be a joke act and turned out good, Samia was expected to be brilliant and turned out less so same with Shayne, therefore you cannot predict when you pair people up how it is going to go and personally I think it is insulting to those who do support specific people i.e the pro rather than the celeb to deliberately want them to get someone useless etc just because you don't think they should get someone good again.

I agree, I think Gareth has been skating more smoothly than Matt in the last couple of weeks.
I'd like to see Beth win, and more than happy at the fact that it means Dan winning again, I like him. Failing that then I'll be happy if Gareth wins.

Well said! I agree with you and would like Matt to win, although I'd be happy with Gareth winning as I think he's brilliant too. Beth is good but a lot of her performances don't do much for her, although I definitely feel she deserves a place in the final 3.

Luke or Matt! I cannot stand Beth at the moment as her 'performances' feel forced; she looks good with her lifts and her skating is smooth but I don't like her lack of showing emotion or relation to the music.

To be fair, I don't think the routines she's being given are doing her any favours.
