[Game] The Twist Factor: Launch Thread
Hello and welcome back to The Twist Factor everyone!
Yesterday, I made the tough decision of who to put on the judging panel out of all the applications I had received. In the end, I settled on four amazing people and (inadvertently) created DS's first X Factor panel dominated by female forum members. Quite fitting for the show though, as this show is all about twists and doing things differently. Anyway, after announcing the judges, I went ahead and sent the judges the first twist. Instead of choosing their own contestants to mentor, a format that is generally used in these games, each judge was asked to send in 2 acts (UK or US) from each category they would like to mentor. This means each category now has eight members, and tonight each judge will be assigned one of the following categories: the girls, the groups, the boys or the over 25s. That's what I told the judging panel yesterday. That's not the whole story though, as there will be another minor twist before we will know which sixteen acts will be participating in the live shows of The Twist Factor. But before we get to that, is everyone here and ready to get this show on the road? |

Before we begin, I would like to ask each of you which category you'd like to get and which one you absolutely don't. This will have no effect on which one you'll get though, as that is set in stone already. I'm just interested...

I'd like the boys/girls. I don't really want the groups because you have to find songs that will fit all of there voices, whereas with soloists it's just got to fit one voice.

I'd like the Boys or the Girls. I wouldn't really like the Groups as I've mentored them quite a bit in the past.

Surprised? I'm sure you'd do well with any category, but this is one of the categories you wanted, so I'm expecting you to give it 100%. Next up, the person mentoring the girls category is: |

Spoiler
You also got the category you wanted, it seems the randomizer I used to decide the categories agreed with you on this matter. Good luck! That leaves us with the groups and the over 25s, along with two mentors in Jess and April. How will the remaining two categories be assigned though? |

Yay, not that I minded which one! I've only mentored the groups once before (and I won), so it will be interesting a second time round!

Now, it's time for the judges to decide who they want to mentor in the live shows. However, as this is The Twist Factor we're not going to make it easy for them. Guess what, it's TWIST TIME!
![]() Instead of picking your acts directly from the available 8 acts in each category, you must choose ONE suggested act from each judge. For your convenience, I've put them in pairs when I announced the acts, so you have to pick ONE from each combination within your own category. Good luck everyone, please post your decisions and the motivations behind them on this thread as soon as possible. |

Aiden Grimshaw - This is a pretty obvious one, Rylan would be pretty hard to mentor and doesn't have much of a voice to work with, Aiden has a really quirky tone and a unique performance style, he's the obvious choice.
Arin Ray - I don't have any urban acts apart from Arin and although he isn't the strongest singer in the world, I believe that he has a lot of potential, and could most definitely show a different side with the right choices. Matt Defreitas - This is an obvious one, Matt's voice is incredible and I was completely wowed by his first audition. He's an awesome singer and he has a top notch tone and I really think that he may well become a real dark horse of the competition, I have so many ideas for how to mentor him. Adam Burridge - This is a relatively close one because they have similar voices but I'm going for Adam because I think that his voice is more unique than Jake's. Furthermore, I believe that he has more behind his voice, his tone is pretty layered and there are a number of different styles of song which I can see fitting him. |

TONI Cher Lloyd & Amelia Lily (MuSiKe)
I love both of you girls, but there's only a finite number of songs that you can shout over, so for that reason I'm choosing CHER LLOYD. JESS Rebecca Ferguson & Stacey Solomon (Jess) No contest, I choose REBECCA FERGUSON, the reason being she's actually released some music so I can take inspiration from that. KEVIN Tasha Pyne & Julie Bullock (Kev) Tasha has a great voice, but Julie has a certain uniqueness about her so I'm going to take a risk and choose JULIE BULLOCK. APRIL Dinah Jane Hansen & Jillian Jensen (April) Jillian sings like she's got a cold, so I'm choosing DINAH JANE HANSEN. |
