The next task is going to be something a bit different. As you all know, advertising plays a huge part in running a business - and for a small business advertising on social networking sites can turn them into a global success.
Your task is to use social networking sites to advertise a business, blog or idea that you will come up with. The two sites you will use are Twitter and Instagram. In your teams, you will come up with your business, blog or idea that you will post about, and then set up a Twitter and an Instagram account for it. Please PM me your new accounts’ names (make the names based on your idea) so I can keep track of how you are getting on.
The idea of the task is to get the most followers, so make your idea interesting! Keep the posts on the accounts based on your idea, so, for example, a team who want to post on celebrity fashion could tweet: “Victoria Beckham’s outfit today - the dress is gorgeous but not sure about the scarf!” You must not mention Virtual Apprentice or anything to do with Digital Spy Forums in any of your posts. If you break this rule it could lead to an automatic loss for your team. Photos can be posted on the Twitter account and will also be posted on the Instagram account.
The task is about knowing how to build up a business, blog or idea on social networking sites, so you are allowed to tweet things like “Follow us - we follow back” but remember that no Twitter users like spammers and will most likely un-follow you if your timeline is full of tweets like that. I will warn teams if the content on their accounts is not based enough on their idea, or if they are spamming. You are allowed to re-tweet, favourite and follow any tweets/people related to your topic, and you can use hash-tags to get your name out there (you can follow anyone you want but don't spam!)
Please do not post the account names of your accounts on your team’s thread; I would like teams to be unaware of how they are doing in comparison to the other. This task will last until Wednesday 20 March, so it would be a good idea to keep your accounts updated to increase your followers. The followers for both teams’ Twitter and Instagram accounts will be added together at 7.30pm on the Wednesday and the team with the fewest overall followers will lose, out of which at least one will be fired.
