This is the thread where team Mercury will discuss what they will do during the tasks.

Only candidates from this team can post in here whilst taking part in the tasks.

I will be acting as Lord Sugar, and pothuthic will be acting as Karren Brady.

I hope everyone enjoys Virtual Apprentice

Hi, it's nice to meet all you guys. We could talk a bit while waiting for the task if you like.

I'm George, I'm 19 and I'm an actor and dramatist. My biggest strength is creativity - obviously as a dramatist you need to have good ideas. My weaknesses are with numbers and accounts, I'm really bad at that sort of thing.

Okay, the task (pasted from the task thread) is:

'We all know airline food can be a bit nasty on the stomach. Your task is to come up with a good quality, affordable airline meal and pitch it to two leading airlines; Emirates and Virgin Atlantic. You must buy all your ingredients from ASDA Groceries Online, Tesco Groceries Online or Amazon. The cost of one meal and all of its ingredients must be sent to Karren. Packaging does not need to be included in the costs. You will then pitch your meal to Emirates, which will be me, and Virgin Atlantic, which will be Karren (pothuthic). It may be helpful to include a diagram of your meal, whether this is self drawn in Paint or a photo from Google Images. Karren and I will then decide how many of each meal we will be willing to order. The pitching will be done at 8pm tomorrow, during the boardroom session. You may wish to include toys for children or gifts with the meal, but these must be from the above websites. Remember, there is no firing after this task but it is important you make a good impression.'

Who would like to be PM?

I don't have it. I asked Lord Stuart about this, and he said if anyone copies the other team's ideas, the team may be disqualified. He can see everything that goes on as well, remember.

Who will be PM on this task? I'm creative and have good ideas, but I'm not sure I know enough about how the websites work/costings etc to do that good a job. I'm not trying to back out of it, but I think some people might be better than me. But I'll do it if both of you want me to.

Do you think you would be good at it? If you think you'd be good, I'm completely behind you.

I think we should do like a little "compartment tray" like 1 has veg on 1 has something cheap but filling (mash?) and a little pot with gravy and also some Ice cream and a space for a drink?

Edit just noticed it can be a kids meal which i want to do

Ok that's good. I have some initial ideas which i will run by you quickly.

I was thinking of having two separate meals. One for children and one for adults. With the children we can have little toys accompanying the food.

Do you think we should go for meat or vegetarian? I'm thinking vegetarian... I am vegetarian myself, and I think a vegetarian meal is so much easier to mess up than a meat meal, so if we could promote good-quality vegetarian food it could really be profitable. If we could come up with a really nice, cheap good-quality vegetarian dish, we'd be able to do a strong pitch.

We do compartment tray Pink for girls blue for boys
Chips,Ketchup,Ice cream and Juice Box
We have a "Lunch box" type meal for Lunch
with Crisps, sandwhichs (cheese, ham and plain butter) a chocolate bar and a small yoghurt (like Petite fillus) and a Juice box

The boxs are like Happy meal type boxes

I'm just concerned about that because the brief specified good quality, and that's just what you'd get at McDonald's really. I don't think we should do junk food, it's not very innovative and is not good quality.

The thing with Vegetarian meals are that there is not a big market for them unlike Meat eaters. The proportion of meat eaters is much higher than the proportion of vegetarians. I do not want to cancel out a large market which is of the meat eaters if you get what i am saying.

I just re-read the brief and it says One Meal so we have to decide between Children or Adults?

Fair point. If you're sure that meat will be better, then it's ultimately your decision. I just thought that vegetarian would give ours an aim, and might make us stand out over the other team when we're pitching it. But it's up to you, you're the PM.

And I think we have more scope with adults... BUT if we wanted to get children eating something new, we may be able to find a gap in the market there. It would be a risk, but it could pay off. Or we could play it safe and do adults.
