So basically we have to describe a new daytime tv show
Yeah, does anyone have any ideas? (By the way, unless there are any objections, I'd like to be acting team leader until Jordan, our official PM, arrives. To be honest, I'm not confident about him, as he contributed very little to the last task. I would have really liked to be PM for this one, it's my sort of thing.)

What would our target market be? People who are generally at home at that time tend to be old people, unemployed people, housewives and young children. On times when I've watched TV in the day, I've often been appalled at what is on, because it's generally things like Homes Under The Hammer and rubbish like that. I was thinking, maybe a sort of intellectual chat show?

Yep I agree. Intellectual chat show could be good. Maybe with politicians and celebrities discussing news?

I like Eliza's idea. Emma, you have to remember that this isn't 'early morning', it's like 11am until 1pm. That's two hours, taking you right into the afternoon. It's not really when people are just getting up, not with a lot of people anyway.

Politicians and celebrities discussing news, I like. The only thing is, we'd have to make it original and not the same as GMTV or This Morning or whatever. Also, with regards to people like housewives, they might only be watching it casually while they're feeding the children/doing housework etc. I think it should be something you can have on in the background and not concentrate on too much, but still have enough intellectual information to sit down and watch it properly if you so desire.

So far, our team leader has not contributed at all to this task, so I have sort of appointed myself as acting team leader until he arrives (I would have put myself forward as PM if Lord Stuart hadn't appointed someone, this task is great for me as creativity is my biggest strength.)

My grandma loves The Andrew Marr Show and that's 9-10. Although she does get up early!

Yeah, that's the sort of thing I was thinking about. But we need to be careful that we don't copy The Andrew Marr Show or something of that ilk entirely, we need a unique selling point.

Maybe viewers could call or text in with their comments, to make it interactive?

Yeh maybe they can tweet in or call with questions for the politicians and celebrities to really put them on the spot?

YES! I'm liking it.

Actually, I've just had a brainwave (well I think it is anyway, let's see what you think first!) While it might overall be a chat/discussion show, I think it needs to have some focus that doesn't limit the audience but sets us apart from just another chat show, and I'm thinking, how about focussing it on finance? I know it sounds a bit boring, but if we could get it right, I think that could really work. It's relevant to pretty much most people (old people, young people, male, female etc), it's very current as we're in a recession at the moment and we could have suggestions on how to save money, how to make money, how not to fall victim to the recession etc.

I know saying it like that sounds really dull, but if we could go about it the right way, I think it might be a hit.

That could be a bit boring and maybe Emma's right about politicians being boring. Maybe do something like that but have celebrities discuss it?

I see the point about politicians being boring, but I'm concerned about having entirely celebrities on the show. A lot of the people watching - not all, but a lot - will be old, and might not really be up to date with who is in fashion at the moment. Maybe we could have a mixture of celebrities, politicians, members of the public and anyone else who is relevant?

Actually, I think having members of the public on the show is a good idea. Not many chat shows do that. We've already talked about the interactivity of calling, texting and tweeting, but how about inviting the most interesting people to actually appear on the show sometimes?

I have to say, I disagree with Emma's 'no politicians' stance - I agree that the show shouldn't entirely be focussed on that, but I do think that we should have some discussions with politicians, as the show will contain a lot of current affairs and politicians are very involved with that.

What does Eliza think?

Yeah, but it's a two-hour show. That won't fill two hours. Maybe that could be a section of the show though, it's a good idea.

I don't actually think politicians are boring. I'm 19, and I do listen to what politicians say, though I often don't agree. They are fantastic for a discussion or something. Maybe I don't really represent the market that well though.

I think maybe we should have lots of different sections in our show. If we have lots of interviews and discussions about things that are going on, and the discussions can be with pretty much anyone. And we can have one section that has what Emma suggested about money-saving ideas that the viewers send in, a few sections about news items, a section about a sort of ongoing issue (like the recession for example), and a few other sections that I haven't thought of yet. What do you guys think?

Same. What about a section with them Emma? And then your idea and then something else?
