Hi All,

I am trying to find a way of overlaying a GIS shapefile over a Bing map as part of a porject I am doing.

I have scoured the internet for a solution, but I'm having issues with the results.

Firstly I tried this site: http://www.easygisdotnet.com/demos/BingMapsDemo.aspx

But I quickly found I need a full blown IIS server with ASP / .NET installed on it. I'm not that familiar with setting it up so I quickly came to a stop on that one.

The second link I found was from way back in 2006, here: http://www.sharpgis.net/2006/09/default.aspx

This seems perfect for what I want, but I cannot get it to work. The example link on that site is broken, but there is a downloadable ZIP which is supposed to recreate it. I have tried this, but am getting an error of "Invalid argument; input argument 'ID' is not a valid 'string' value."

Can anyone help me get either of these two solutions to work, or suggest any better ones?

I've done it with Google maps by converting the shapefile to KML. Can the Bing maps handle KML?

Yes it does. I've got a little further with using KMLs in OpenLayers (which can show Bing or Google maps). The problem is my layer is a road network with names and details of the roads. I need to be able to click on a piece of the road network and see the attributes linked with it.

I have basically downloaded this example and fed it my KML file rather than the sundial one. It seems to display correctly, but wont display the road details when I click a section of the road. I assume I have to change some code in the html or maybe the structure of the KML. I'm not sure though. Could you help?
