Anyone buying vinyl albums that come with an mp3 version
I was given one as a present and it strikes me as the best of both worlds: you get a nice vinyl album and a proper sleeve for when you're chilling at home, plus a code to download the mp3 version to listen to on your phone or mp3 player.
But they seem to be hard to find. Do many albums get released in this format, and if so who stocks them? I've seen a couple of newish releases (Jim James for example) where there's a CD supplied with the LP, but that seems a bit pointless. Does anyone else like these vinyl+mp3 albums, and if so where do you find them? |

Yeah i am a big fan of these. Last week i bought the new Nick Cave album on vinyl and that came with a download code, decent quality too at 320 kbs. Luckily i have got two independent record shops where i live that both stock a lot of vinyl, cheaper than amazon. These download codes seem to be becoming more popular, and I have had quite a few now. Sometimes though you only get the code when you pre-order the album so it might be worth buying direct from the artists web site if this is the case.
Also I don't mind if it comes with a cd either, as my internet connection is so slow it's quicker for me to rip the cd onto itunes than it takes to download. |
