So pop stars like Suzanne, Gareth and Shayne who found fame through Popstars, Pop Idol and X Factor respectively are good bookings, but people from Big Brother, who have had no actual career other than being a professional celeb/dieter, should be avoided.

SCD is guilty of a few I'm a Celeb graduates, but they seem to gloss over that and focus on the rest of their careers, while getting the benefit of the tabloid interest it gave them. So long as the person has enough of a career beyond that, it shouldn't matter.

I'm not keen on the WAGs either. SCD seems to have been more guilty of it than DOI, but Elen Rivas was something of a low. The likes of Pamela Stephenson and Heather Mills both have their own careers, and were decent bookings IMO, but neither would have been considered if it weren't for their husbands.”

I'd agree with that. It's the'famous for being famous' types that I can do without. And to be honest there is no evidence that the public are interested in them either as they generally don't stay very long. As someone earlier said Chloe Madeley only got away with it as she was good otherwise i think she'd have been voted out early as with Tana Ramsey, Elen Rivas & Lauren from TOWIE.

Heather Mills was also a more 'interesting' contestant due to her disability.

Yes, for all my qualms about the nature of Heather's celebrity, she brought something different, which enhanced the show.

I think the producers get nervy and pick contestants that the tabloids will like, rather than ones that the public are genuinely interested in. A few years ago, I think the year that Elen Rivas was cast, they supposedly turned town Faye from Steps, which is bonkers IMO. Just because Faye hadn't been high profile for a while didn't mean that she wasn't going to be more interesting to the general public than someone only in the press for hanging off the arm of a footballer.

The only thing she is dedicated to is getting her gobby mug back on tv and making a load of money. As shallow and fake as they come.

How odd if true, they've already had Lisa from Steps.

I don't think being a BB winner should count as being a celebrity for these shows, but Josie does have a lot more personality than most of the contestants this year so probably would be more entertaining on the ice.
