My favourite song from a musical, does not matter if its on stage, been on stage or from a film has to be Singing In The Rain, pure brilliance alongside with Good Morning from Singing In The Rain also! My fave stage musical has to be Lullaby Of Broadway from 42nd Street - superb!

The Sound of Music stuff is fab for me...love the soundtrack.

I also like stuff from 'My Fair Lady' - 'I could Have Danced All Night' and 'The Street Where You Live'.

And 'Moon River'...whatever the film was?

I like "Do You Hear the People Sing" from Les Miserables. Very stirring! And also "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables" also from Les Mis.

At the moment, I am really into films staring Fred Aistare and Ginger Rogers, and so my favourite songs from musicals at the moment are "Cheek to Cheek" from "Top Hat" and "Pick yourself up" and "The way you look tonight" from Swing Time.

Wasn't that from 'Breakfast At Tiffany's'? Audrey Hepburn (looking fabulous despite wearing a clapped out headscarf you wouldn't even dust with) sat on her window strumming a guitar, while the frankly delectable George Peppard ogled her from above?

I loooove musicals, but can't think of half the song titles...

'On My Own' and 'I Dreamed A Dream' from Les Mis.

'All That Jazz' from Chicago.

'Come What May' from Moulin Rouge blows me away every time I hear it. Simply FANTASTIC!

But, NOTHING can beat Tim Curry's not-a-dry-eye-in-the-house performance of 'I'm Going Home' from The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Magnificent.

p.s. There's a track from Hedwig and the Angy Inch that I can't think of (slow track sang in a cafe? Hedwig basically singing to Tommy)? Anyone remember what it's called? I need to watch that film again...

Ooh I love musicals so I do

My favourite is "Carousel"...I just adore "You'll Never Walk Alone" and "If I Loved You".

My guilty secret one is "Hymn For a Sunday Evening" from Bye Bye Birdie...it's a homage to Ed Sullivan of all people I love Bye Bye Birdie...a most underrated of musicals IMHO!

Watched Hedwig again last night. The song was 'Wicked Little Town' (both the cafe Hedwig version and the end Tommy Gnosis version with different and even more emotive lyrics). I also remembered how much I loved 'Wig In A Box' as well... it made me want to drag up bigstyle and go and belt it out in a karaoke bar.

I also watched Dancer In The Dark again afterwards, and 'A New World' certainly tugs on the heartstrings (thought that may be to do with the ending of the film and what happens... what a way to end a musical!).

Also remembered 'Tell Me It's Not True' from Blood Brothers is quite a fine song.

Trendygirl - absolutley, the most underated musical of all time.

I've never understood why Carousel does not get the same credit of it's big brothers and sisters (Oaklahoma, South Paciffic, Sound Of Music). All the songs are great and the story line is wonderful - a real fantasy - based on a French story called Lilliom I believe.

It's also a real tear jerker - the part when Billy Bigalow is killed and the Aunt sings You'll Never Walk Alone - yes, but the part that gets me is when he comes back to earth and as a "spirit" reprises "If I Loved You" with the slighty different words and Julie just stands there.

And isn't Cameron Mitchell so evil

Definitley the most underated musical of all time.

Has to be Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar for me. Not in the slightest religious but what an emotive song, especially the film version.

I also love musicals so many wonderful songs I have a large collection on DVD and video.
It's very hard to pick just one song as favorite. But my favorite to watch at a theatre is Cats, I've seen it about 20 times.
