They're all fronting Metal/Symphonic Metal bands!

No auto tune or electronic vocal changes here, just pure vocal greatness! Don't let the Metal label turn you off!

Here's a few suggestions to search for on Google/You Tube.....

Katra
Unsun
Epica
Lacuna Coil
Sirenia
Nightwish
Within Temptation
Delain
Xandria
Indica (All Girl)

Hope you enjoy!!!!

I am not surprised that this forum gives you no replies to this suggestion, they all think Little Mix are great! In my time, I was quite into Lacuna Coil [ not just because she is hot! ] and I did have a Within Temptation live album too....

I'm not so much into it now but yes, you are right, some great female vocalists there.

Hey, you know what? I like Little Mix but I am also a fan of Nightwish,Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation and Xandria.

Yes, it is possible that like a wide range of music genres. Who would have thought it??

My favourite songs from each..

Within Temptation- Dark Wings-epic!!

Xandria- Fight Me

Lacuna Coil- Unspoken

Nightwish- Nemo

I have been meaning to listen more from this genre though because as you said their vocals are divine.

Love symphonic metal & have seen Within Temptations "Black Symphony Tour quite a few times. There are so many great symphonic mental bands out there like Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil, Evanescence, Epica etc etc, that deserve so much more airplay than what they get.

Thank you so much! I never thought I would come across someone who likes the same music as me, without labeling other music as crap. I have everything in my Spotify / Itunes from Meatloaf to Nightwish, Little Mix to Within Temptation, 50's to current top 40, with a little bit of classic thrown in too for good measure.

I booked tickets to see Within Temptation in Glasgow yesterday. Shannon del Adel does opera, rock, pop, dance and ballads (but mostly rock obv) and is brilliant.

Tbh, most of the current great male vocalists are also fronting metal bands, albeit more on the power & industrial side of things.

Ha ha! I was just going to say that Nightwish fans would probably disagree with the op

No love for Amaranthe/Elize Ryd here?? Once you get over how commercial they are they actually have some pretty good songs (excellent solos as well for the guitarists out there!) She also sung with Tommy Karevik on Kamelot's latest album Silverthorn.

OT: For anyone who likes progressive metal check out Tommy Karevik's band Seventh Wonder - they are outstanding! The Great Escape is probably my favourite Metal album of all time...

I used to work with a uy who would play symphonic metal rock opera some band from iceland. I have to admit great voices but 4 weeks of it non stop for 8 hours a day drove me mad.I hid all of his CD's and played dj format instead.

Three bands I rarely see mentioned in threads like this are some of the originators of these sounds - Theatre of Tragedy, The Gathering and Tristania. The first two bands in particular are essential listening - all of Theatre of Tragedy's work with Liv Kristine is great, while The Gathering's albums 'Mandylion', 'Nighttime Birds' and 'How to Measure a Planet?' completely blow away anything Lacuna Coil have released in a similar style.

Good to see Nightwish being mentioned though, probably my favourite symphonic metal band.

I have listened to a lot of this symphonic metal music.
I like Nightwish and Within Temptation.
And, yes, the female singers are great, as are many of the male musicians who back them up. That seems to be the model for most of this music.

As a form there's a lot of the imagery and musicianship of Prog Rock there but there is more of the energy of 80s metal. I'm not sure where the music is going but hopefully it won't end up as self-indulgent as Prog!

Yes, I like Little Mix. Jesy dresses like a metaller sometimes as well.

With so many female pop stars, the increasing number of girl groups, so many girls in rock music (Haim, Savages, Deep Vally as well as these symphonic rock groups) it seems to be a girls generation in pop music.
Just surprising that there are few female DJs or producers.?
