Feeling really anxious at the mo, so thought I would come and post here.

My dad is taking our dog to the vets at 10.30 am, he pulled his leg about 3 weeks ago and after 10 days on inti-inflammatory tablets its getting no better, infact yesterday he looked worse

Poor think is hobbling around and look miserable. Keep getting thoughts in my head that it might be something much worse than just a pulled muscle.

Not much point to this post, just feel better with animal lovers around me.

Thanks guys. Its such a worry when they are injured or poorly, would be so much easier if they could speak.

Will update soon.

Awww poor thing, we had a similar problem couple of years ago, ended up having to rest Mollie completely for two weeks before it would heal. Let us know how it goes at the vet.

I'm with Molliepops. Zach is always jumping down from things and pulling a muscle. Then he's doomed to no walkies until he gets better.

I really hope your little chap gets better soon. These things can take a while to heal

Thanks guys.

The vet has precribed tramadol and some other strong anti inflammatory. The vet has booked him in for an xray on Monday, just to make sure that there isnt an underlying nasty issue.

The vet said the drugs will make him very drowsy, he's permanently drowsy anyway, he's a greyhound

I think the worry has crept in from looking on the internet, apparently greyhounds are prone to bone cancer. Sometimes looking on the net can be a bad thing, i wont be doing it again!!

Keep fingers crossed Xray comes back clear.

Thanks everyone
xx

Good luck with the xray, try not to worry though as good as the internet is it's as bad as those medical encyclopedias that used to cause so much worry !

We also have a Greyhound, he's 12 and has Arthritis, especially bad in his hips, our vet has him on Onsior (1 a day), we give him a Glucosamine tab 3 times per day with the 3 small meals he gets per day. Some days he is really down but the likes of today he's been prancing/running around the garden, hope your Grey is ok. Lovely dogs, good luck.

Our boy is also on something for his artritis, will look into the glucosamine tablets for in the future, he's 8 in June but I'm sure with age it will get worse.

As much as they love snoozing on the sofa they are not happy if they cant do a lap or two of the garden when the moment takes them. Our boy is looking miserable with himself. Fab dogs, unlike other dogs in many many ways.

Think positive, nearly 8 yrs old is still fairly young, may well have simply pulled a muscle or similar, was your Grey a regular racer back in the day? Our boy wasn't, he has the registration tattoos in both ears, but after googling these tattoos i traced him to Ireland and he only raced twice. Ours was used for something, maybe unlicensed track racing or for going hunting/shooting. Anyway all the best with your dog JJ75. Let us know

He was a regular and retired at 5 which is quite old. Our boy is from the UK as he only has 1 ear tatooed. I wonder what you're boy was doing, its odd that he's had a life that you dont know about!!

On another note I saw a post on Facebook about a dog that's turning 6 this month, he's raced 219 times and is still doing so - he has more than earned his right to a comfy sofa and lots of TLC

Will let you know about the Xray.

Just wanted to send you best wishes

I'm forever worrying about my little dog, she's forever throwing herself about then getting a bit lame (and my brain thinks OMG it must be her hips, a terrible spine condition or something - when in reality she just overdone it!)

Take care, all the best

its odd that he's had a life that you dont know about!!

We've only had him 2 years, got him @ 10 years old, he was languishing in an animal shelter for 6 months, nobody wanted him (fools), the animal shelter people ain't obliged to say where he came from. The ear tattoos helped me a little in researching his history, love him to bits. Cheers

Update:

Worst possible news ever. The vet has rang and the xray is showing cancer, its a very aggresive form which will quickley spread. The vet said the kindest thing to do is not let him come around from the anesthetic.

My heart is breaking. Mum and dad are on there way to see him and say goodbye.

Numb, shocked and so so sad.
