Has anyone heard this latest album from Mylene Farmer?

Finally got a copy hoping to like it but unsure after her last "Bleu Noir" album that other than the red one track "Oui, Mais Non" and "Lonely Lisa" wasn't really my cup of tea.

However, it's way, way more brilliant than I had expected. It's wall to wall euro dance pop and I would imagine anyone who likes dance pop/europop may well love this.

The tracks "A L'ombre", "Monkey Me" and "Love Dance" are real stand out tracks. It amazes me that older artists like Mylene who is 50+ and the late great Donna Summer (on her final album "Crayons") are/were able to create some of the best uptempo dance music whilst some younger artists seem to be like crooners. Everything has reversed.

I don't think you'll get much discussion of Mylène Farmer on here!

I've got 'Monkey Me' downloaded but haven't listened to it yet - I like 'A l'ombre', but it does kind of sound like Mylène Farmer-by-numbers. Few do the 90s euro/dance-pop sound better than she does, but I'd rather she applied her talent to new sounds and experiments - I can listen to 'L'autre' if I want to hear her 90s sound.

I know, I didn't actually expect anybody to respond because I know it's music not in english and is too non mainstream for here but as digital spy is for everyone I thought I would post about Mylene Farmer anyway because she does nevertheless have a reasonable UK fan base and her albums are formally released here.

I agree this album is Mylene by numbers euro dance-pop but I like it though have to agree about 'L'autre' being a masterpiece particularly for me the song 'Regrets' with the male singer with the very deep voice (can't remember his name offhand). I can still remember this being played on BBC Radio 5 in the 1990's before it became a sports station.

That's Jean-Louis Murat, and 'Regrets' is probably one of my favourites too. If you're into French music, he's well worth a listen - particularly his album 'Mustango'. His own songs sound nothing like Mylène Farmer though!
