I personally fail to see anything good about his skating and I don't know how he has gotten further than the likes of Shayne.

Beth I understand as she's a great skater, as dull as dish water, but a great skater.

Any Olympian is hailed as a god over here in the UK so I'm assuming that its his status and looks that have gotten him this far.

To be honest Im surprised even that has helped, his gold medal match clashed with the men's 100m relay AND Tom Daley's diving. Wouldn't have surprised me if more Irish people had seen Luke's win than English.

^^^^ What a horrible, harsh and personal post. To call someone vile is terrible. Fair enough if you find him unlikeable and/or rude as that is a personal opinion of how someone comes across to you but to call someone vile based on about 20sentences spoken a week seems OTT and very uncalled for.

On the original question; Luke deserves his place because there wasn't anyone else better in the contest. Shayne wasn't that great at all. The only one who may have made a difference is Keith but the public spoke loud and clear about him.

For the record I do think the London 2012 pride is still strong in people which is not neccessarily a bad thing. I would rather self made athletes promote themselves on these shows as opposed to Z list slebs!!

He'll be gone tonight anyway given the other 3 are not only much better skaters but crucially are also more popular.

There is a big gap between him and the other three semi-finalists, but he was better than Shayne while they were both still in the competition, so the OP's point doesn't stack up. It's possible Shayne might have improved more than Luke, but Shayne was surprisingly average for someone with a music and performance background.

I think the Olympics is part of it plus lots of ppl find him cute. Personally whilst Gareth, Beth & Matt were clearly the best I don't think that Luke was really worse than anyone else apart from Oona who was never going to get the votes. Shayne was very average IMO.

I have met Luke several times before and after his olympic gold and although he has come across as rude a couple of times on the show this is far from the real Luke. I think on the show his frustration at not been as good as he can has made him upset and say things in the heat of the moment, he is certainly not rude or arrogant he is a lovely guy who cant do enough for you.

I think it's just the fact that he was in the olympics that helped, regardless if people had heard of him before I can't believe he's made the final though!
